I flew TED from PHX to DEN and back. They didn't have any food because it was a short flight, but there was free soda, juice, etc. Other than that, nothing all that special other than the annoying references to Ted as if it were a person.

haven't flown Ted but I've heard pretty good things about it. Anybody know financial reports (or estimates) yet? I can't imagine that Ted is beating out Frontier or the other LCC's though.

"Try and get seat 12F - best Econ seat on the aircraft. No seat in front of you @ the emerg exit."
This is not true. You are referring to United's A319, which does not fly for Ted. Indeed row 12 on the A319 is in Economy Plus and the window seats have no seat in front of them (bad if you have a carry-on for under your seat though).
On Ted's A320s, row 12 is not Economy Plus, there is a seat in front of you at the windows and there is no extra room. Check seatguru.com for more details.

Ord, I stand corrected. Su - ignore me!
Have flown so much over the last 2 weeks that I don't know what I am talking about. 12F on the A319 is great for legroom but terrible for carry-on, but seeing as you were asking about Ted, this is neither here nor there.

Jumpseated on United with a managment type in the left seat...he said Ted actually made money (if an airline within an airline can do that) in the past quarter. He also said that United had gained market share from Frontier in those markets in which Ted competes with Frontier. For what it's worth-Ted seems to be working thus far.

I flew Ted once.....a couple of months back from DEN to MSY......flight was pretty empty, service was mediocre, and the IFE was ok. Overall, nothing special, mainline UAL was just as good if not better. The Ted f/a's seemed pretty "out of it" for whatever reason. The buy on board program was good...I got a $7 chicken caesar wrap which was pretty tasty. I think I was the only person in the Economy Plus section (probably 30 of us up there not many more) to buy something.
I'm not saying this just because I work for the competition, but Ted has a long way to go if it wants to match Frontier's in flight product.

I flew F9 4 years ago, SEA-MDW, and unless they've improved their in-flight service dramatically since then, which I highly doubt, F9 isn't the least bit exciting in terms of IFE and food service. I was very unimpressed with F9 then and have no plans to fly on them again. I'll gladly pay extra to fly on UA mainline, and even on our competition, AA, before I fly F9. I'd like to try B6 to see what all the hype is about, but I'm one of the rare people who will gladly pay more to fly on a mainline carrier, specifically UA whenever possible. Unfortunately, TED doesn't serve SEA or PDX, two markets I usually in/out of, so I don't know when I'll have an opportunity to try it.
I'm glad to hear that TED did in fact make money in Q1, and that they re-gained market share previously lost to F9. Go TED!

All that's different is the paint job, no first class, and "cup only" policy that is truly enforced (to the point where people ask for the can and are told no)
And the annoying references to Ted as if it is a person during all the announcements gets old after about 10seconds.

I'm sorry but you are wrong.
Frontier has added in-flight entertainment rivaling jetBlue and has inflight food service like bagels and wraps on flights over about 90 minutes.

Needless to say the good folks at F9 headquarters aren't exactly losing any sleep over Ted. Nor should they. And as far as Ted taking over market share from F9, that is debatable. UAL says Ted has, but F9 has said Ted has not. Who knows what the correct answer is, but it's not like Ted will drive F9 out of any markets that's for sure.

TED Has a good product and unfortunately you get people on this forum who have allowed TED to inherit their hate of UAL.
TED may have a new paint job, one class of service, serves only a cup at a time of soda, but that is why TED's cost is low, thus making money Q1.
So before you go spouting off at what a joke they are, nothing different? Look at TED, not it's big brother. TED Does have a good product and I hope F9 is sweating bullets, cant make F9 happy to see UAL/TED enter the Mexican markets. GO TED!!!

Trust me, Frontier is NOT sweating bullets.
As for the Mexico service, more competition is good for the consumer, however, I wouldn't say that UA/Ted's entry into Mexico will do much harm to F9's already nice sized operation down there.
