I think the coolest trip I made was a one day round trip from FAI to LAX to hand carry some documents. First class all the way, window seat. I carried a book, my ticket, my package. I traveled alone. I was 15.
That successful trip spawned a bit of a courier career for me, and I made several trips the next few years to SEA, PDX, and lots to ANC. Same day round trips.

I had to do a mileage run to keep up my Silver Medallion status for DL last year.I did BDL-SLC-SEA-CVG-ATL-BDL. I was able to get on the MD-90 twice, and alas my only two times on an MD-90 . Anyway my company has me traveling to Europe a fair amount this year, so needless to say I won't need to do another run this year. However it was pretty funny to see the expression on the ticket agent's face when I checked in at BDL.

JNB-HKG for shopping. Depart JNB around lunchtime Friday, arrive HKG Saturday morning, shop in a frenzied manner till evening, fly back late evening, arrive JNB 0600 Sunday. Better with a stopover in MRU on the Sunday, spend all day on the beach, fly back to JNB arriving midnight Sunday.

In may of this year i flew DUB-CGN with germanwings which cost me 26 euro,
spent an hour in CGN then jumped on a train to dusseldorf, spent a few hours
on the viewing deck then caught the Aer Lingus flight back to DUB which cost
around 50 euro. I left my house at 9.30am and was back home by 10pm!

I keep track of all the airline routes I have flown. In the past two years, I flew two routes that were being discontinued just for the fun of it, and so I could keep track of these routes that are no longer flown. I made some additional flights just for the fun of it to position myself to thse discontinued routes. I madethe following round trips in the span of 36 hours (the discontinues flights are nopted with an asterix):
On a Saturday in April 2005:
DL SNA-CVG B 757
DL CVG-CLE B 737
CO CLE-MCI EMB-145
The next morning:
ME MCI-SNA B 717 *
On a Friday in March 2006:
AA LGB-DFW MD-80 *
AA DFW-BOS MD-80
AE BOS-JFK EMB-145
The next morning:
AE JFK-DCA EMB-145
AA DCA-DFW MD-80
AA DFW-LGB MD-80*
On particular note, I flew with James Carville on the DCA-DFW route.
I actually used to fly for fun quite a bit when I was a kid. Now, as an adult, I can afford to add a vacation on to my flights, but some I did for fun within a day as a kid included:
ONT-PHX-SAN-LAX-ONT (The SAN-LAX portion was to fly Muse Air, which had just announced an upcoming name change to TranStar)
ONT-SJC-LAX-OAK-ONT (I was at LAX with these flights the morning of the same day the USAir flight collided with a commuter aircraft and slid off the runway)
ONT-BUR (I did with two other friends; it cost us 20 dollars each on Alaska Airlines)
ONT-SAN-LAX (The SAN-LAX flight was on a TWA L-1011, pretty cool for another 20 dollar ticket)

IAH-DEN and back same day a few times for biz.
IAH-DCA and back same day 2 times for biz.
IAH-SFO out one evening & back the next afternoon, gone 30 hrs for wine run.
IAH-LAX turn for soup with friend when we could ride jumpseat, gone 8 hours.
IAH-EWR outbound noon and back next evening at 6pm for biz.
Looking at some of this that I am able to recall, sure looks insane to me but what fun.

Funny you should mention this....
Myself and fellow user Chris78cpr flew the following:
LHR-LAX VS007 07/04/04
LAX-LHR VS024 08/04/04
We fond an absolute bargain deal and it was worth nearly 11,000 miles to us to we did it!
Overall it was tiring, but a totally amazing time! As soon as we arrived in LA we went into Hollywood for dinner then the next day we went shooting at LAX with another a.net photographer and then headed home, it was great!

Next wednesday i have a day off work so i`m flying DUB-STN with Ryanair
then STN-GLA with Air Berlin and then home to DUB with Aer Lingus, the trip
should take about 11 hours, 125 euro is not bad for 3 flights!

In the 80's and 90's:
DAL-TUL on WN, business, almost always day trips, more times than I can remember...if my boss went, it always had to be DFW-TUL on AA.
DAL-AUS-DAL on WN on business, lost count of those too. I did have lots of Rapid Rewards freebies in those days.
DAL-HOU-CRP and back on WN, many times, business and pleasure, most always an overnighter. A few DFW-CRP on AT7s.
DFW-SHV on AA/Eagle, some day trips, some overnighters.
Once got to fly the company's Hawker bizjet DAL-BDL once. Sooo awesome.
A friend of mine works for DL, so we've done alot of non-rev/buddy pass flights, just to say we did it, some day trips, some overnighters:
BNA-ATL-IAH and back DL mainline (for Airliners convention)
BNA-MIA 763 Business Elite - nice; return FLL-ATL-BNA. (764/M80) Stuck in FLL eight hours waiting on available space, got on last flight out
BNA-LGA (CRJ)-shuttle bus to JFK-ATL (M11) ATL-BNA (M80)
BNA-ATL-CMH (757/757) For Airliners convention. CMH-LGA (ER4) LGA-BNA (CRJ)
BNA-ATL (757) ATL-LAS (763) LAS-LGB on B6 320, drive to LAX for Airliners convention. DL 763 LAX-CVG in Business Elite again. Stuck in CVG 12 hours/overnight unable to get on BNA flight. Finally took CVG-CHA (FRJ) and rented a car to drive back.
