Hi guys, I need an advice for my trip.
I will be travelling from HKG to BNE and return from MEL to HKG. I have to choose between CX business class or QF business class. My question is which airline has the better seat on these routes? I heard QF has the angled lie flat seat while CX has the out dated kind of business class seat on these routes.

Cathay probably has better frrequency to and from HKG. Cathay uses lots of A330-300 on these routes with older Biz Seats, some A330's though have frst class and almost flat BIZ seats. QF would be better if going to Sydney.

Well QF uses the A333 on the HKG-BNE route and their biz class seats look quite comfortable. I don't know what CX is like but they are very good airline.

Thank you VHVXB. Those seats look comfortable. I asked CX reps here in Jakarta, they said they're using A330 with old Regional Business Class for BNE and New Regional Business Class for MEL. I flew on the old one for HKG CGK flight and it wasn't that good. I guess I'll go with QF this time.
I'd have to agree... flat seats or regional seats, flat seats or regonal seat?? humhhh hard question glad you picked QF mate... you shouldn't be disapointed!
write a trip report!!

Enjoy your flight!

I just flew the new QF J class product on the 744 (VH-OJB) which have the same seat installed in the A333 which fly the HKG-BNE sector as someone mentioned before me. CX332 which fly to BNE are the regional J class so QF would be my option to BNE. Out of MEL well not sure what a/c Cathay or QF use..either CX332/340 or B747 the seats would be their long haul product. And QF would be the same seat as the 333 to BNE on either a/c type be it 333 or 744.

Quoting Red777 (Reply 9): CX332/340 or B747 the seats would be their long haul product.
CX operates only 333s. Most in regional config (ORBC/NRBC) and a few frames in longhaul config with NBC seats in J, mostly for SYD/MEL/ADL as you said.

Hi all, thanks for the great replies.
Unfortunately, my departure date has been changed to 07 September and QF does not have any non stop flight to BNE on that day. The return flight on QF 29 MEL HKG is a MEL LHR flight via HKG, I have been advised not to take this flight by my ticketing staff as we received numerous complains from our clients who travelled on UK and USA bound flights. They complained that they were taken for several lines of security search and interviews because they were holding Indonesian passports. I don't think I'm ready for that kind of treatment again after what I've been through in JFK last year.
So, I'm gonna take the CX flights for convinient sake.
By the way, I am not trying to start a racist or racial profiling discussion here.
