I stole the idea from weather.com but i was intrested in your responses. What time do you think is the best time to travel:

1. Early morning
2. Late morning
3. Early afternoon
4. Early evening
5. Night
6. Red eye
7. No time - I hate flying.

I love early morning. The planes are in from the night before. Delays are a minimum.
When flying during the summer months I am cautious to connect in Dallas or Houston in the late afternoon or early evening because of thunder storms.

As a personal preference, I love flying at night the best, whether or not I am pilot in command. It seems the air is smoother, there is less traffic in the sky, and seeing the city lights is so beautiful!

Early morning and late evening. No traffic and smooth air. Also redeye flights are a good idea since you don't lose half a day for your traveling.

I prefer early morning flights when I'm traveling through delay prone airports since there will be a smaller chance of getting delayed, and when I do get delayed I'll have a good chance of making it out of the airport at a reasonable airport. When I'm not traveling through delay prone airports I like flying early evening because there is nothing better than the setting sun streaming through the cabin.

I prefer mid day departures - especially to the US. Gives me time to organise myself in the morning, beat the rush hour morning traffic and gives me a chance to wake up at my usual time; not upsetting my body clock.

I guess it also depends on the length of flights. Some prefer to fly all night and be ready to go in the mornings when you arrive. Others prefer to fly during the day and arrive in the evening to sleep.

I guess we all have our own preferences and what ever they may be, enjoy your flying experience.

Well when I am flying to the East Coast (Mainly DTW for college), I like to leave FAT or SMF on the first flights out. So that way I hit LAS or PHX before the heat comes. When I am flying back from the East Coast, I like to catch the 8pm flight from DTW on HP to LAS. My favorite route I would have to say. No bumps or anything. Nice and smooth and seems that we always make up so much time on this route.

I prefer to take off between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM.
I usually fly to YYT, YYZ, YXU and SEA, so if you leave early
you get there earlier. I like to have time to settle down and
rest so I'll feel less jet-lagged the next day.

Any time, i dont care. if i am going some place new i like it to be at least light out so i can see whats around me. if i am in Alaska in the fall or winter i want it to be night so i can see the northern lights. i love watching the sunrise or sunset and being blinded by the light. i love the feeling of early morning travel, still waking up and looking foreward to great flights but i also love the feeling of night flights and getting comfotable in the seat with a pillow and blanket and wathching the strobe light when you pass through clouds. like i said Any time is the best time for flight!

I prefer leaving at night! it always seems more exciting... unless I'm going on a long trip then leaving in the morning because the night before your really looking forward to it!

Quoting Pizzaandplanes (Thread starter):
6. Red eye

That's when I do my US-Europe flying as it saves me time versus a morning flight.

Quoting Pizzaandplanes (Thread starter):
2. Late morning

This for my Europe-US flying for obvious reasons

Quoting Pizzaandplanes (Thread starter):
1. Early morning

For domestic US flying for the reasons stated above.

Cheers from BDL,  wave
