Today morning:

A Tyrolean Airways Dash8Q-400 prior departure from Vienna International Airport:
On board also the UN-chief inspector HANS PLIX who was on his way to the Iraq. With him a journalist from CNN. He filmed the inspector while he and the other passengers were told, that the plane has an engine failure...
They had to get out of the plane and the guy from CNN was live on TV then. He told everything about Tyrolean and their next failure. And he also commented that the free world is in danger if the chief inspector and his team is not able to get to Baghdad.
There was no possiblity for him to get there from Vienna, so he had to drive to Budapest, then to fly to Larnaca and from there to the Iraq.

Dangerous game tyrolean!
Now the whole world was told over CNN that your planes are not the best...  Laugh out loud

Hoping it will not happen again.

Beschämt den Kopf senken  Sad

Talk about not coming through when the chips are down. (though maybe this time it's not strictly Bombardier's fault, but P&W if it's an engine issue. Or maybe Tyrolean maintenance?)

Anyway just the kind of publicity the Q400 (and for sure the carrier as well) don't need. I hope Herr Blix didn't have his mind at all taken off the more pressing international issues at hand, by this foul-up.

 Insane

An engine failure prior to departure? To the media a burnt out panel light is an engine failure.

I'm watching CNN on TV and on the net, they mention nothing about this. All they show is Blix stepping off a plane in Bagdad saturday.

What's the big deal about a mechanical delay? Name one airline or aircraft that has never had more than a few.

I agree with T prop.... airplanes are just machines, they don't care whose on board..

Better a failure on the ground before the daparture than during the flight! Nobody got hurt - and that is just the way it has to be. CNN or not!

T prop, the problem is that this is not Tyrolean's first problem with the Q400, but rather the last one in a long row of more than 60 incidents in the last years. They had just set up a 10 points plan to fight these problems, and just some days later the next flight has to be cancelled due to problems with the aircraft.

Here's the link to the press release from AUA issued just some days before this incident.

Thank you for that Racko.

Interesting, hope with this plan Tyrolean can get the bugs ironed out soon.
