I flew back in August of 1977 to Rome, Italy from JFk. I remember flying on Pan Am leaving later at night....and the configuration of the plane - 3 aisle 3. I just was wondering which aircraft may have been used back then on that leg...a 70 or a 72? Anyone know or remember  Confused

I doubt it was 727, cause 727s are short range planes...

Could be 707, also DC-8...

Pan Am in 1977 must have been a 707, the DC-8's were gone by that time...

If it was 3 and 3 seating it was most likely a 707-320. There were no DC-8s then.
I flew PanAm from JFK to Rome in 1979. The flight was supposed to be a 747, but they substituted a 707 for the flight.
