Hello everybody,

now that everybody seems to be in a hype about that magnificent piece of art (including myself), I thought I´d start a Concorde thread too.

I was rather amazed to see airliners.net holds at least two photographs for each and every single Concorde. See for yourself and enjoy:

Given that it's one of the most-photographed aircraft around and that there's only a handful of the things in existence, I'm not that surprised. I'd be more impressed if there was a photo of every 737.

Impressive that there are two pics of the short-lived AF 211 'FD', not much photographed in its short life (1977-1982).
After a hard landing a Dakar in November 1977, it was repaired, but as a result was quite a bit heavier than the rest, so when AF cut services in 1982 it was used for spares, not stored inside it seems, finally being broken up in 1994/5, BA like idiots brought the intakes and surprise surprise, they were corroded to f***

I was not aware SQ flew a Concorde... When and how was it?

PZ,

SQ never actually operated Concorde themselves, they just had a partnership with BA on their route to SIN. G-BOAD had SQ colours painted on one side. The pilots were always BA and cabin crew were from both BA and SQ. This was in the late 1970s.

They did not, BA Concorde G-BOAD had SIA titles on the port side only for flights between London-Bahrain-Singapore, but 50% of the F/As were SIA.
A few flights in 1977, when the Malaysian government blocked supersonic flight down the straights of Malacca, as part of a dispute with the UK over LHR slots for their airline, (they threw a real hissy fit, instituting a 'buy British last' policy that went on for some years).
In 1979, a three times a week service resumed, but soon political problems started, the Saudis, enraged by a UK TV documentary about the killing of a Saudi princess and other brutal aspects of their regime, took a range of economic measures in retaliation, including banning supersonic flight over the largely empty Saudi desert (they claimed that sonic booms stopped camels from breeding).
Also loads were hit by the then recession, so in November 1980 the service stopped, OAD was repainted in full BA colours.

Great tribute... For the website http://www.airlinerlist.com I once searched photo's for some other airliners. Guess what. Airliners.net also contains pictures of each individual MD-11 (200 frames). Of the Boeing 777, only about 10 frames are missing (mainly from Saudia, a VIP one and even an ordinary United machine). I guess 90% of all 737s are there as well, mainly the few which crashed or broken up before the mid 90s are missing.
