What airline's have either female pilots or first officers? I mean there has to be atleast 20 or 30 somewhere in the world. Which airlines have the most? Are there any airlines that have all female pilots? I mean it seems that 99.1% of the women in the airline industry are flight attendants, and 50.% of the males are pilots, and the other 50% are ramp agents. Granted, a few are too flight attendants like the women, but most are not.

I had a Mesaba ARJ come in to OKC and the pilots were lady's and the F/A's were guys it was a little strange but kina cool.  

I've seen Female US Airways FO in Charlotte and I had a Female Delta ASA Captian on a EMB-120 once...She did a good job getting me home

I know Air France has some female CAPTAINS on each long haul aircraft, definitely co-pilots as well.

While the ratio of women to men is very low, it's not that uncommon anymore to see female pilots. Not sure if Skyservice has female pilots, but I'm sure they do. Air Canada certainly does, Jetsgo has one for now, Canada 3000 and Royal did, Air Alliance has a few, so does Air Ontario, I'm sure they all do!

I've had female FOs on LH twice, and once on BA.

I saw female pilots only on Ryanair, United and Lufthansa flights. In my opinion belong females in the cabin and not in the cockpit (maybe I had an other opinion if I were a pilot ).

You guys are correct, I fly a lot and it is very rare when I see a female first officer (I never saw a female captain).

I have encountered Capts and F/Os on UA, and F/Os on AA and - believe it or not - Bangkok Airways.

In KPIT I saw quite a few female pilots for USAirways. Also, on my trip SFO-CLE we had a female FO.(737-700)

HA had the first all female flight crew in America back in 1979. Many at HA are still F/O's, but there are a lot that are Captains on both the 717 and 767. The same goes for AQ.

Only one female captain - On United Express from LAX-SFO. Great flight!
I think there need to be more females captians and FO's, Most people are under the percption that all pilots are male. At my flight school, there are two female CFI's, very very talented too!

Well, what do you know. Another absurd thread on Airliners.net. I have been an airline pilot for 25 years, and have not worked at any airline that did NOT have female pilots. And this means both Captains and First Officers. Those of who who claim to fly a lot and have never seen a female pilot are either not paying attention, don't fly "a lot", or live in some third world country. I'm also married to a pilot, who in addition to having been both a First Officer and a Captain at the airline level, is rated in gliders and seaplanes, who also has an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics certificate, who also was an air safety investigator with the NTSB, and who is only 32 years old. Proof that gender means nothing if you have the desire and the drive to succeed.

I have flown with a couple:
1. Both my private and instrument rating checkrides were with a female examiner.
2. I flew twice in GA aircraft with another female pilot.
3. I flew on a Mesa CRJ that had a female captain.
4. I see them all the time at airports.

My FIRST flight as a F/A was captained by a great lady.. I've had numerous lady pilots on flights where I was a pax.. Also, when I did FNT-CUN-MKE, our f/o was a lady.. 25 years in the cockpit.. she was nice

I remember a Trans States flight into STL once that had two ladies up front and a guy in the cabin.

Ansett used to have a few female pilots. There were even a couple of female 737-300 captains and a few A320 FO's. QF also has a fair amount of female pilots. The same goes for the regionals like REX,O'connors,Eastern,Southern etc. they all have female pilots. I've flown on a flight with a female pilot on 3 occasions. One was with a female flight instructor in a PA28, another time was in an Ansett 767-200 with a female FO and the last time was in a Virgin 737-800 with a female FO.

I used to be a Flight Attendant for Reno Air (I am male). We used to fly with the same crew for a month at a time. Two different months I flew with two women on the flight deck and my coworkers in the cabin were men. So it was all women up front and all guys in the back. Was fun!

It goes without saying that they all do the same training so I never cared about stuff like that. Just give me a competent professional pilot and I'm good to go...

All 4 of my flights last week on American had female F/Os. PHL-ORD-MSP on Wednesday and MSP-ORD-PHL on Sunday. All 4 legs were on F100s.

I like seeing a female co-pilot, better yet a female captain!

In the early to mid 1990's there was a write up in the American Airlines employee newsletter when American had their first all female flight (two pilots and all the flight attendants). It was an MD-80.

Virgin Atlantic has at least two FOs. At least, I have seen two...

It is my understanding that Tunisair is one of the few Airlines that have the policy to NOT recruit woman as flight-crew.
Are you sure that they have now female pilots? If so, then that is great news!

a little known airline called Deccan Airways operating out of HYD was the first to recruit female commercial pilots operating scheduled services way back in the Forties! Capt. Prem Mathur became the worlds first female airline commander oeprating schedule.

Later Indian Airlines (IC) was to have the largest number of female pilots anywhere in the world. Capt.(Mrs) Durba Banerjee holds a number of world records (including first female Jet commander, highest number of hours flown etc).

IC also became the first airline to operate all-woman crew flights first using HS748's inthe 70's and later using 737's.

All-woman crew flights were a common thing on IC until it was recently banned by a ministry order following an incident onboard a late night Alliance Air flight.

Always smooth landing with them.

Oh come on everyone - there are so many now it is hardly an issue.

I would estimate that at least 20% of the pilots I speak to at work every day are female, probably more than that. They are flying everything from a light twin to a USAF C5 Galaxy.

When I started work twenty years ago, there was a bit of a novelty factor whenever a female pilot came on the RT but within a few years they were commonplace. And quite right too.

Incidentally, when it comes to air-ground communications, I tend to have less trouble understanding, or being understood, by female flight crew.

We have an instructor here at my college who flies the 777 for AA...as a check airman!! She's phenomenal.

No I know Skyservice has an A330 Captain who is a female, her very face stood out in the SSV adds a few years ago. She wan't a bad looking lady too.

C'mon guys! With the exception of Saudi Arabia and a handful of wretched theocracies, the rest of the world has moved on to the 3rd millenium. That a pilot or flight instructor happens to be female should not even be noteworthy, leave alone newsworthy.

C8 has man female captains and copilot...may times i've seen a plane come in with an all female crew! I think that it's great. I also have a story about that. I was helping an elderly lady get off the a/c and into a wheelchair. While pushing the wheelchair down the concourse i asked her how the flight was and she said it was good except for the female captain. The elderly lady said that she hated the thought of a woman flying her around...seemed a bit old fashioned but i still had to laugh on the inside.

One of the first days I worked for Mesaba, I sent an all-female crew (CA, FO, FA) on a Saab somewhere. It was kind of cool.

Very true re: C8 female crews. We have a few female pilots who are quite easy on the eyes...An all-female crew is a non-event here.

Every time I'm flying up around home I hear female Piedmont and Air Midwest pilots as well. I seeem to hear females more than males!

What radical Muslim theocracy are you from? If you've ever been on a CO flight with IFE and actually watched the safety video, you've seen Capt. Debbie McCoy. She's the Senior VP-Flight Operations. In other words, the highest ranking pilot in the company.

I flew Egypt Air Airbus 321 the captain was a female also an Egypt Air Boeing 777 the f/o was a female .
Also British Airways Boeing 777 the f/o was a female .

Another interesting development is transsexual pilots; American has three (including a 767 captain) and others such as Southwest, Northwest and United have some as well. In Europe, Lufthansa has a 744 captain and Air France at least one TS pilot. Even the RAF has a helicopter navigator who is TS.

It's nice to see that bigotry and knee-jerk reactions are giving way to thoughtful, logical responses. Long gone are the days when pilots had to be strapping 6'5" ex-military types. Aviation is changing!

Exonnonrev is right. CO does have Captain Deborah L. McCoy. She's also a rated 757/767 pilot. I actually met her when I did my internship there.

And what about Lynn Riplemyer (sp?) first female 747 Captain, with PEOPLExpress, I believe. That was in the 1980s.

21st Century or not... one airline will never have female flight crew - and that is SINGAPORE AIRLINES. They want the SINGAPORE GIRL image to remain in the cabin crew department. Even CATHAY PACIFIC has female co-pilots.

Here at FEDEX we've had all female crews on all our aircraft at one time or another... Of course when females are flying its not a "Cockpit" anymore it becomes a "Box office"

Actually, women are better suited as fighter-pilots than males.
I am talking here about fysical AND psychological reasons.
There are now several female F16 Pilots in the Belgian Airforce, which is known to be the best in the world. (for F16 strife and attack/defence and C130 Dropping at least)

BA Has lots of female. Also on the B777 as me.  

Continental Express (Expressjet) has quite a few female F/Os and Captains. I hear and see them very often at Cleveland. I've also seen female flight crew on Air Canada Jazz, American, American Eagle, ATA, Continental, Mesaba, Northwest, TWA, USAirways, and United.

I sat next to a Continental female 777 FO. She was deadheading back to IAH from LGW.
