Gentlemen, today, 15th May at 22.10LT, G-WWBD will arrive from JNB for a one week's maintenance visit!

It's planned to leave again on Friday, 23rd May (rumours say 11.00LT, but not yet confirmed, probably depending on progress of maintenance work, etc.)

Good luck to all photographers able to take it!

Question: I saw a BD A332 in full c/s flying above Belgium on the way to the UK, on May 7th, 8.15pm.

It was not the aircraft doing the daily MAN-SA - Illinois">ORD run (since it was seen in the morning on ACARS).

Is it possible that the leased A332 of SA in full BD c/s visited the UK on May 7?

Regards
Frederic

Unique,

Will it go into the same hanger as the MyTravel A330's have been these past few weeks (cockpit door mods)?

Also, wasn't G-WWBM in ZRH this week also?

Luxair66, it's planned to work on it in Hangar 3 (the tallest of the three), but depending on the progress, maybe it has to be repositioned.

G-WWBM was here for 24hrs and left yesterday.

Frederic, I can't really say! As mentioned, G-WWBM left ZRH yesterday. On 7th May, no BD A330 was at ZRH...

One of the BMI A330s is going back to BMI to restart the MAN-IAD flight on 1 June I believe.

hey,
do SAA have both the `spare` bmi a330`s? am i right in saying that one is in star alliance colours and the other is in full bmi livery? i flew to chicago in march on bmi. i think the reg was G-WWBW, or G-WWBD, but i may have made that up!
so are SAA returning both aircraft to bmi, or just the one for the washington flight? i must admit, it was really anoying that they had no spare aircraft when i flew, as our flight was delayed by 7 hours, due to a fault with the front wheel mechanism! the crew where great though, said they`d never seen such a delay, and its better that the spare aircraft is leased out making some money!
they are really stunning aircraft, they look geat, and have the nicest interior i`ve ever seen!
does anyonw know when the fourth 330 is due for bmi, and what the reg will be?
cheers,
mike

Mike, if you flew on the A330 displaying the Star Alliance colour scheme then you had G-WWBD. This is the one in ZRH right now, but it has full South African livery.

I'm not sure if the aircraft is returned to bmi, I rather think that this is a normal check plus some cockpit door modification. It will leave ZRH again next Friday, and I believe it will leave for JNB.

Cheers

Will G-WWBD be returned to SAA after the maintenance? Is it there for an interior re-configuration at all?

The lease on one aircraft from bmi expired last week and the lease on the second expires in December. Seems strange that the aircraft in SAA colours be returned first. That said G-WWBB does have a more favourable seating configuration with more economy seating. G-WWBD has more business class seats some of which, according to the seatplan in SAA's timetable, the airline was marketing as economy class seats. Great for pax, but no doubt not very cost effective for the airline!

G-WWBD will be released soon and is planned to leave ZRH for MXP at 13.30LT while G-WWBB will arrive ZRH from MXP at 17.55LT. I guess, Bravo Delta is not yet returned to BMI (but will be soon - probably after delivery of the 3rd A340-200).
Cheers
