Topic: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: Paulianer Posted 2003-07-30 15:30:11 and read 1800 times.Hello everyone,
I just thought that it would a great idea to combine an a.net meeting with the Hamburg Airport Classic at HAM. It will take place at September 13th + 14th (sat+sun).
I think if we would organize a meeting or something like that, Saturday September 13 would be great?
What do you guys think about that? Anyone interessted? I am from HAM so I'll be there anyway on both days
The Airport Classic is an event of Hamburg Airport and Lufthansa Technik together...
Some attractions would be:
- Wright Flyer from 1903
- Junkers Ju 52
- DC-2
- DC-3 Dakotas
- Lisunov Li-2
- DC-4
- Lockheed L-188 Electra
- A340-600
- A300-600ST Beluga
- Nord 2501 Noratlas
- C-160 Transall
Ah, and of course our Boeing 707-430

I'm sure you'll find a good fare, because it's still 1 1/2 month to go... But glad to hear that you like to come... so I start the list for Saturday September 13th

Otherwise, I really like the idea....

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: Paulianer Posted 2003-07-30 21:16:38 and read 1740 times.Hi Michael,
well, when we have photographed all the stuff at Airport Classics it would be a pleasure to show you around and hang around for some "ordinary" spotting... But when the "right" runway is in use it should be possible to catch the "normal" stuff during take off or landing...
So, check the airfares

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: Jumbolino Posted 2003-07-30 21:34:12 and read 1719 times.Hello Tobi,
yeah at the moment I should definitly find a good fare, but I've a problem,
my Munich contract is ended (ok a few days left) and I've two other possibilities outside, so I've no clue which will be the city of origin,
so I could book Sept 13 XYZ-HAM and I'm sure no reservation system will accept something like this
But normally inner-german flight should not be that problem at least it's a saturday .... and I should know it within the next 2 or 3 weeks ...

I'll arrive in HAM at 0830 on september 13th (LX856 from BSL) and then I'll leave the following monday-morning.. Price incl. taxes is CHF 140.00...
I'll contact a friend of mine (met him in FRA once)... Hoping his offer for a bed is still valid...
Otherwise, I'm sure you locals will help me find a hotel near the airport...
See ya, I'm already nervous

that sounds great... So the list is growing
- Tobi/Paulianer
- Michael/IwantaBBJ
- Jumbolino (maybe)
And don't worry... if the offer is no longer "valid" we'll find a way

count me in, too. As I am also from Hamburg, I don't need to worry about any flights, but I'm not sure yet whether I can make it on both days.

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: ViveAF Posted 2003-07-31 11:03:54 and read 1662 times.Sounds like being a great event....
Just been on to the Ryanair site and booked myself STN/LBC/LBC for GBP1.98 plus taxes etc... came to GBP30.41 and for that price I reckon I can sit on a bus for an hour or so to get over to HAM
Coming over on Sat 13Sep, arriving LBC 08.55 and heading back on Sunday 14Sep at 23.00 .... actually much better times than I could get (let alone the fare) than any of the major carriers direct into HAM !
Couple of questions.... can I get a ticket in advance for the event, and also would you reckon it`s better looking for an hotel at HAM or in the City (can get a pretty good rate at the Graf Moltke where I`ve stayed before...)
Looking forward to it !
Cheers
Rich

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: Paulianer Posted 2003-07-31 13:18:17 and read 1645 times.Hi Rich,
good news that you'll come...
About the hotel, it doesn't matter if you take one around HAM airport or in the city center, because in fact the airport is still in the city
Just look for the best rates...
Some examples for the night September 13th - 14th
Novotel Airport € 120,-/night
Ibis Hotel Airport € 59,-/night
I think there is no need to get the ticket in advance, although it seems to be cheaper... Maybe I can get a ticket for you, if you want to, just let me know.
So the list is still growing
- Tobi/Paulianer (local)
- Michael/IwantaBBJ (flying in from BSL)
- Jumbolino (maybe)
- Frank/FUAirliner (local)
- Rich/ViveAE (flying in from STN)
Greetings

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: ViveAF Posted 2003-07-31 13:57:31 and read 1635 times. Thanks for the info Tobi...
Through my company I get a 50% reduction on Accor Hotels, so I`ll contact the IBIS and see what they can do....
The HAM website like is really good... the whole event should be very interesting.
Maybe we`ll get some more A.netters there
Cheers

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: Skymonster Posted 2003-07-31 15:00:20 and read 1620 times.B****r it... I'm in. Flying with BA...
Sat 13th - BA1772 07:00 BHX-HAM 09:40
Sun 14th - BA1775 20:30 HAM-BHX 21:10
Nicer fares on Ryanair, but by the time I've driven 150 miles to STN, probably stayed overnight because of the early departure Saturday monring, hired a car for two days to get from LBC to HAM and back (can't be bothered with buses), and driven 150 miles home from STN on Sunday night after arriving there at 23:30, £129 all in on BA seems attractive too! And at least I won't have the sniffy Ryanair staff causing problems with the weight of my carry on bag with all the camera gear in it!

Topic: RE: A.net Meeting @ HAM For Airport Classics 2003 Username: Jumbolino Posted 2003-08-01 13:38:14 and read 1527 times.Hi Tobi,
yeah - the tkt for the event, do you think to buy it mid/end of August is early enough ? This should be the date when I know the city of origin, too.
I've two offers outside, one would be Essen (I think then it's time to use my car or Luxembourg (use the car to the next cheaper airport)
or being still in MUC then either a 88 EUR LH tkt or flying dba (I had a look a few minutes ago and the fares are already high for no-frill - one way "Spar-Tarif" between 55 and 85 EUR)
Well wait and see, but it sounds that this would be a great a.net meeting

I think it would be early enough to buy the tickets at the day of the show
And hey, Lufthansa still offers MUC-HAM-MUC for € 135,- (same day return)
Looking forward to see you all soon in Hamburg, hopefully more to add to the list.
Greetings

just want to let you know that I just heard the rumor that the first A340-600 from Lufthansa (maybe in Star Alliance Scheme) will be on display instead one of the Airbus prototypes.
Would be fantastic if that comes true, but we'll see in mid September
See ya

With an event of such a (planned) magnitude, there will be certainly more a.netters around than just us...... Maybe we'll get some more to join us once the event gets nearer
