Is it still around?

I was a few miles west of MCO last night around 5:30 (for those of you familiar with Orlando area it was Oakridge and Orange Avenue when I saw a strange 757 arrive at MCO. It had a colorful fuselage and I just caught a quick glimpse of it. I thought at first it was the Phoenix Suns America West 757. I looked on flytecomm.com and the only 757-200 that I saw arrive at that time was an ATA flight from MDW.

There were no America West flights at that time and none were using 757s. Basketball season isnt going on now, so it wasn't a Phoenix Suns charter.

The only thing that I can think of otherwise was that it was maybe the 75th Anniversary plane by ATA. Like I said, i was a distance away and I could tell it was a 757 that had a dark fuselage- either purple or dark blue and had some colors on the fuselage too with either a yellow or orange symbol of some sort in the tail (so either the orange basketball or the yellow ATA)

Anyone happen to see this plane come in around 5:30 pm. The aircraft that landed before it was an AA MD-80

Yes the ATA 25th paint scheme is still flying on the 757. It was at FLL
just the other day as well.
Does anybody know the current status of the 727 that was also painted
in the 25th paint scheme. I know the plane has been retired from service
but is it in storage or god for bid scrapped?

520AT was in MCO on the 15th. It landed at approx 532p local time and left about an hour later. The arrival flight number was 542 and the departing flight number was 535.

So yep the 25th Anniversary theme was what you saw!!!!

On a slightly different note, does anyone know if the CO Peter Max Millenium 777 is still around? The last time i saw it was about a year ago at IAH. Any one spotted her recently?

Actually someone spotted it at MCO about a month ago. I hear it is supposed to be around in the Peter Max scheme until sometime in 2004 when it is due for overhaul

The 25th anniversary 727 was retired along with the rest of the 727's

Yep...it was the ATA 25th anniversary 757. I flew back home to Chicago MDW last night on an ATA 757-300. I saw the 25th anniversary plane parked at the gate.

Considering ATA has now been around for 30 years now, should the 25th anniversary plane not have been repainted years ago?

In these times it is not feasable to repaint aircraft that do not need a paint job.Its a shame that a design could not have been done that would allow for the number to be changed from 25th to 30th somehow. Most paint jobs last about 7 years from what Iv'e heard.

I believe the 727 was scrapped.

I think Spirit just finally painted their 10th Anniversary plane into the new colors
