NW has a veto right regarding the merger between KL and AF. But how, why and when can they use that and do you think they will do that?

I'm not sure that NW has veto power but if they do, why would they want to veto the alliance? It will only be positive for them.

Northwest has the right to veto agianst any alliance by KLM just as KLM has the right to veto against any alliance of Northwest for the comening X years (don't know the exact number of years. This is in their alliance agreement (at least according to their annual reports).

So that means that NW can vote against because they loose AMS as a Hub ( CDG is taken by rival DL) and will no more have a European base.

Hi!

I can understand that. AF have an alliance with DL and now merging with KL there is 2 US airlines to deal with. I don't know how possible will be to have DL and NW as partners, that's now quite interesting!

DL and NW are already extensive codeshare and route-planning partners, and NW will probably join Skyteam in no time.
