"We're delighted to introduce non-stop daily service between Sydney and Montréal. This new route further strengthens Air Canada's Atlantic Canada network" said Bill Bredt, Vice President, Network and Revenue Management. "We expect our new service, conveniently scheduled to allow for same day return trips, will offer both business and recreational opportunities for travelers heading to and from Cape Breton Island."
Air Canada will operate the new route using Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) aircraft manufactured by Montréal-based Bombardier Aerospace. The Canadair Regional Jet carries 50 passengers in a two-by-two seating arrangement, providing all passengers with either a window or aisle seat.

The new Sydney-Montréal service offers customers low fare, high value non- stop daily service as well as advance seat selection and Aeroplan Mile accumulation redeemable for future reward travel throughout the Air Canada networks and also on Air Canada's 15 partner airlines in Star Alliance.

Air Canada has timed its Sydney service to offer excellent connections via Air Canada's Montréal hub to and from major cities across Canada, North America and Europe.

Air Canada provides scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo to more than 150 destinations on five continents. Canada's flag carrier is the 11th largest commercial airline in the world and serves more than 30 million customers annually. Air Canada is a founding member of Star Alliance providing the world's most comprehensive air transportation network.

Cessnapimp,

You'll generated a lot of traffic with that title  Laugh out loud

Good news for both cities. With new CRJs and EMJs coming, we can expect many more announcements like that in coming years.

I think YQY averages almost a dozen tourists every year who step off the plane expecting to hear "Gday Mate" but instead facing the starkness of Nova Scotia. But hey, at least the seafood's cheap! Big grin

A good chunk of the traffic will be ex-patroit Cape Bretoners living in Ontario. Flights should be split 1 from YUL and 1 from YYZ--sorry Mark

Oh that is a hoot!!!! I was wondering where they got the A345's for that jaunt, but then I remebered a 345's cannot even fly that far,

Brings me to that article about a couple of English or Canadian tourists who were sold tickets to Sydney (Nova Scotia) but had wanted tickets to Sydney Australia, by their travel agent. The thing more amazed when they boarded their flight to Sydney (Nova Scotia) was the fact it was only a 32 seater to get there, nor did it take to long to get there.

So funny I think it made the major headlines in SYD for a few days.
