I've always wondered when Charter flights for companies like apple vacations, the planes such as Ryan Air, Champion, ATA all have staff at the International terminal, so who does the check in and the ground handling of the baggage? Does each airline hire their own people or is their some common company they use? If it is a company what is the name of it?

You bring up a good question...I sell many charter trips and my main concern is making sure people know where the Berry Int'l Terminal is located at DTW....sometimes, that is NOT easy Smile .

Signature Flight Support used to handle many of the DTW charters, but that may have changed. I have flown Champion Air a few times, but not since Northwest Airlines employees handled check-in and ground support.

Ground services for the Nomads Boeing 727 that is based at DTW are handled by Butler Aviation.

For Ryan Int'l or other charters, Signature Flight Support handles the check in/ baggage/fuel. I have to admit. They were among some of the most unprofessional people I ever worked with. We had a 1-hr delay due to the a/c cleaning crew falling asleep in their minivan. I forgot who did the catering, but one time a catering truck pulled up, and one of the idiots (neither knew any english) blew the R1 slide on our A-321..

Champion handled their own, Signature MAY have done their baggage/fuel..

ATA check in was handled by Signature, as was their baggage/fuel.

I went to the website and oddly enough DTW isn't listed as a location of theirs. I know that's wrong as you see tucks at the airport with their name on it. Sounds like an outdated website.
