When will/did Copa come to JFK?

I read on Just Planes, whose news doesn't seem to have anylisting by date "Cops comes to JFK Today", yeth in the small description, it says Thursday. Today is not Thursday.

"Copa inaugurates nonstop service from Panama City to New York JFK on Thursday. The airline will operate a daily flight using its Boeing 737-700."

Can anyone tyell me details? Flight number, arrival and departure times and most importantly, what DAY?

Thanks.

-Phil

Copa Airlines now offers nonstop service to Panama City from four U.S. cities: daily from New York City, twice daily from Miami, daily from Los Angeles, and four times a week from Orlando.
Copa, which has one of the youngest fleets in the Americas, will operate a Boeing 737 “Next Generation” aircraft on its daily nonstop service between New York and Panama. The aircraft has spacious interiors with large overhead compartments, seats with adjustable headrests, and a 12-channel audio and video entertainment system, and is equipped with Vertical Situation Display (VSD), a sophisticated flight deck instrument, as well as “winglets,” an advanced wing design that allow the aircraft to operate more efficiently.

I am curious as to why they opted for JFK. I would have thought they would fly into Continental's hub at EWR.

Jm017, That's because CO has a flight from EWR to PTY, that handles the route for them as a codeshare. CM, now does JFK with their own metal.

Thanks, Aa767400. I had a hunch that was the reason. But i figured CO would fly from IAH to PTY.

Continental flies non-stop from IAH to Panama City on a daily 738.

CO also flies non-stop from EWR on a 738 (sometimes a 757). This flight continues on to Ecuador I believe.

With Copa offering Houston service to Santiago, Buenos Aires, and other South American cities, what I am wondering is when will CM start their own service to IAH to compliment CO's service?

CO offers double dailies to Guatemala City, San Salvador, Belize City, and San Jose so why not a second non-stop to Panama City?
