I live there and I'll never have the chance to fly on the best airline in the world (I'm so happy I've been told to like them) cause I'm 15 and I'll never move out of BFE. Maybe Jetblue can come here? I know two people from New York down the street from me, and my friends uncle passed through JFK once on a connecting flight. I think this is enough demand for at least six flights a day. Do you think it's possible?

Come on! Seriously, what's the point of posts like this? On this board right now, there are no less than three posts: Jetblue to Reno? Jetblue to Little Rock? Jetblue to Portland, ME? This happens on a regular basis. Some one will post, then another will want to know if Jetblue will come to their city, then another...and another.

Are we going to go thru every city? Does each one need it's own separate post? Do we really need to ask these questions? And why is it always Jetblue? Why do we never see "Is Alaska going to serve Traverse City?" or "When will Aero California serve Burlington, VT?"

Just to answer everything, so we can end this childish nonsense: Yes, it's possible Jetblue can serve ANY city. There, that covers it.

Phew...

If you are 15 then why does your profile say you are 26-35 years old??

On average there are 10 passengers per day that fly to New York City.

Unfortunately there is definitely not enough traffic to warrant a flight to JFK or any New York City airport for that matter.

Welp, make that FIVE! There's also a "Jetblue to the Midwest" post, and a "Jetblue to Portland, OR"

Crazy...

On a side note, how many people actually knew BFE is a real airport, in Germany? Must be out in the middle of no where  Big thumbs up

I've also had a hard time understanding why people get so worked up over JetBlue on these boards. They've done some good things and they're an innovative carrier, but I think of them the same way I think of the current 'low-carb' trend - they're momentarily popular, but in my eyes they haven't really proven themselves as a sustainable business. The growth and profits that AirTran and Frontier are seeing are more impressive, IMHO.

Perhaps one day I'll fly JetBlue and be proven wrong - maybe a little TV screen and blue corn chips really are worth wetting your pants over. Until then, I'll think of them the same way as I think of American, Southwest, Delta, Alaska, ATA, Frontier, United and the rest... a safe, fast way of getting from one point to another.

I know, I know... I've committed the cardinal sin of not licking JetBlue's feet. Please keep it civilized.  Smile

Jetblue to Safford, Arizona (SAD)!!!

Sure it takes 3hr by car to PHX, 3 1/2hr to ELP, but what the hell... There is at least 3-4 people a week that would make that trip. It could be a stopover on the PHX-LGB route.

I agree with NonRevKing, but it is entertaining to read the reasons why there town needs jetBlue service.

You should see some of the places AS flies to..... with "essential air service" that U.S. Taxpayers pay for.... yup they get subsidized by Uncle Sam to fly a 737 into some very small places....

For example AS flies to CVD/YAK/PSG/WRG with a 737... and they will often only pick up or drop off only 1 or 2 pax at each "town"...

These towns existed before jets... why do we have to pay to have AS service these communities now....

Jsnww81 --

Great comparison to the "low-carb" trend.

I agree with most of you. Remember, though, that B6 has had great success at BVT. If it flies A320s there, you know everyone from a town of 50,000 or more is going to be clamoring for B6 service. They won't get it, of course, but they'll use Burlington as a comparison.

I posted the jetBlue to the Midwest? post - because I was curious if anyone heard if they were planning to expand to CLE. If you do not like the post, skip over it and don't post errant information poking fun at other people who might find it interesting or useful. Not everyone is a know-it-all like you obviously are.

Yes, such posts can be tiresome.

The sad part is that sometimes airlines really do insane things. So as much as you might dismiss JFK-MOT, every now and then somebody does something really out there (PIT-ICT with MD-80!).

So you never know 100% for sure.

Gotta side with Jetpixx.
THis is an Open letter to everyone who pops a gasket when someone new to the hobby or this board makes an uneducated comment or asks a question we all know the answer too.
There does seem to be an overwhelming SNOB factor roaming these boards.
We all can't know everything there is to know about commercial aviation. And even you, at one time knew absolutely nothing, zilch, nada about the one thing we all have in common.....a passion for Commercial Aviation. How did you learn?, you asked questions, and probably a lot of dumb ones.

If the topic disturbs you, pass over it, allow someone else to gain the knowledge you seem to be wanting to hoard. No one is hurting you....so quit being a hater.
I applaud the youngsters on this board. I was a 15 year old once, at a time when the flow of information wasn't as liberal and free as it is today. In 1979, I was in love with anything airborne, and felt like the only person in the world with this hobby.....I wish I had a forum then, such as this to learn more about the things that interest me.
I am honored that these young men share our avocation.
Now what was the question?

Is Alaska going to serve Traverse City?"

Crappy scan aside...  Big thumbs up

TVC's future is brighter than many airports out there, we wont see scheduled Alaska Airlines obviously, but, its pretty probable within the next year or so we will see Chicago Express, United Airlines (seasonal mainline), Continental Express and a return of Skyway. Not to shabby. Better than a lot of airports that are serving cities 5 + times the population....

Stirling,

Thanks for your comment.

Some of us who are not airline/airport professionals but are just on these boards for fun are frequently picked on when we post by all these "professionals". An example of this is the so called "Indian topics" like Air India news. The people on those discussions say stuff like "we discussed that a month ago, get your head out of the water."

Why do they do this? Either ignore the post or politely answer without sounding like a smartass.

When I'm on a medical website and its online boards, I don't belittle people for asking sometimes redundant or simple questions just because I'm a heart and lung surgeon!!
So stops being snobs, Airliners!!

Simply because it is common courtesy to use the search function to look for the answers to your questions before burdening someone who has already taken the time to answer it one or more times before.

There is no such thing as a stupid question IMHO. There may be ones with blatantly obvious answers, but not everyone is smart enough to see them right away. The stupidest questions are the ones that have already been answered before, but the person asking them is too lazy and inconsiderate to bother researching.

Sean,

Part of the beauty of my posting was knowing that you would be responding right away, and in the manner in which you did.

Don't get me wrong, you are very intelligent and have very good information, but your response says it all. Like I said, either ignore the post or simply say that it has been discussed. No need to berate the person or call him/her lazy or stupid.

To you and I nonrevking sure its common sense, absolutely. But at the same time I have always been a believer in constructive criticism, and I don't mind sharing, or learning for that matter. It is unfortunate that these posts bother some people. It never surprises me how much I learn when reading a topic that I "thought" I knew everything about....

As for the bitch about discussing things already having been discussed....
So if I understand this correctly, because someone joined later than some of us, they should be forever excluded from enjoining in to a new round of potentially enlightened discussions? The potential for new information has been exhausted since we control the intellectual rights to such wisdom?
So what you're saying, "since I joined before you, and we already talked about that, the subject is now closed... so shut-up"!? Thats the very definition of snobbery.

Knowledge is neverending circle.....remember that.
This is an INTERACTIVE source of knowledge, not a STATIC respository of information. We come to discuss this knowledge, take part in the process, bring a human element into a sometimes solitary fascination.

How about this for a flight form B6

JFK-FAR-BIS-MOT-GFK-JFK

I think that it could fill 1 plane a day to stop in all of North Dakota! It would fit right into a low carb carriers (as posted earlier) point to point schedule.

There are a lot of reasons
BTV, Not BVT (Don't ask me why they flipped around Vermont..geez!)

1. Their really pulling out of a customer base of about 400,000 or so?+ the ton of toursists who go into Vermont. BTV can universally be considered Northern Vermont..
2. Their is a HUGE depand for not driving to Manchester, Hartford, Providence, or Albany for WN. For Southern VT however, most people do MHT, BDL, PVD/ALB.
3. They've got a fairly loyal following, and the TOURISTS! Tons of pax going to/from Stowe, or visiting relatives in VT, and a fair amount of Vermonters also.
My Two Cents on Burlington.
Oh Yeah, and I think Gordon would love to send an ERJ-105 (Check MAP, don't mean to advertise here) (a 15 seat RJ) to EWR for ya. Thanks Gordo!

BVT is actually the Boiler VOR near LaFayette IN so they had to use BurlingTon Vermont (BTV) instead as the closest thing.
Careful though, because this has probably already been discussed before in another thread and we don't want to offend anyone! Big grin
