I quite like the look of it. What is that susposed to be on the tail? It looks like a bit of a "bubbly" design. Well, people DO go scuba diving in the Bahamas....
I am glad that the blue on the engines is also picked up in the the tail. It looks better that way.

Terribly underwhelming, especially compared with some more colourful Caribbean airlines like JM. Though your comment was probably in jest, I suppose budget/time restrictions may very well play a role in the increased prevalence of all-white colour schemes!

Is only my point of view.

MIASkies: the photos are not fakes. I don't have the time or inclination to create fake photos when I'm buried in legit photo work.

Do some research before you stupidly make false accusations about fakery. The aircraft in the photos is parked on the north side just south of the old Pan Am hangars and another 737 in the same new scheme is in the hangar but buried behind other aircraft. The photos were taken late yesterday afternoon. Sorry to burst your own bubble but that's reality.

Well, guys leave whoever did it alone. They tried. I personally don't like it, but look close. They were on the right track. It just looks like it isn't finished. Yes, it does look bland, but if it had been finished up with a couple colorful stripes/swooshes, I'm sure it would have looked wonderful.  Big thumbs up

Those pictures are not fake. The aircraft was on the Commercial Jet ramp at MIA all last week and was having a C6 registration applied last Thursday. The design may just be a one off but appears to be in line with a promotional campaign. There's a billboard in Broward County on I-95 with a similar design promoting the island.

The 1970s called...it wants its color scheme back

That looks nothing like the generally elegant/colorful paintschemes of the 70s.

When they paint aircraft all white it makes them look like cattle cars. This is getting ridiculous, I was just looking at the retro-jet Varig 767 and how it got repainted into the current hideous and boring Varig colors, now this? This dose of ugliness is more than what the doctor ordered for today. I gotta admit, it could have been worse had they painted the whola tail blue like every airline is doing now.

Bahamasair livery was a classic and could have looked great with a minor update.

the scheme on the tail is the new logo from the Ministry of Tourism.. When I sat on the Out Island Promotion Board I expressed how ugly it is (www.bahamas.com) compared to the old logo (http://www.boipb.com).

The design is supposed to be a retro-look to outline the islands. If you look at a map of the Bahamas and the new "logo" for the Ministry of Tourism, now SometimesAir.. err BahamasAir, you can see what I'm talking about.

Both Falconair and Segment King are right. The scheme is a promotion of the new logo for the Ministry of Tourism. Not to worry it probably will only be for a few months. If u as me they should keep the engines that colour, and paint the fuselage in regular bahamasair colours; with a picture representing each island. Ex: Eleuthera - Pineapple, Andros - Crab, Inagua - Flamingoes etc....

The tail should be painted a blue like the engines but instead of the flag use the stupid Nuts bubbles. That would be promotion not this stale white colour. Embarrassment

What the hell is wrong with these people!!!!!!! Have they been talking to the same people who did JAT Airways and Croatia's new liveries?

After JAT and Croatia, I thought it couldn't get any worse. BOY, I was wrong! Remember, you are a caribbean airline people - more paint, more colors to represent. This livery does not one damn thing to showcase who or what the Bahamas are (ir-regardless if the islands are on the tail). They should take into consideration that their planes are like flying billboards, a classy, imaginative livery can/does/will go along way in the public eye. Even if this is a cost-cutting measure that they couldn't avoid, they still could've come up with something better than that crap.

Sad, very sad. I just can't believe it............tear

BR715-A1-30,
I'd rather see this than that old hunk of shit livery they had flying around with a bunch of green stripes.

The old livery was a representation of the Bahamas national colors. You might want to be a little more sensitive about such things.

I'm quiet sure many members here would flip their lids if someone started flinging insults about their National representations. I know I sure would.

I have recommended your post for deletetion, I hope others will do otherwise.

In my opinion the new livery is a bit lack luster.

AQUAMARINE (not Green) - Sea
Gold - Sun
Black - The people.

That is not a new colour scheme. Just a promotion for the Ministry of Tourism. Because they had to paint the two newly acquired B732's anyway it was decided to try it. And that's not the islands on the tail.  Confused

Apparently, this scheme is not too widely liked here on the board. I myself, happen to like it. It looks refreshing; an image-booster to make the airline look younger, if you will. The Bahamas is an excellent location for Spring Breakers, and the airline wants to market itself to a younger audience. It's fitting. To me, it looks more "tropical" than the old, bland, "1970s Yellow" livery.

if anyone learns to read, it has already been stated that the logo on the tail is that of the MINISTRY OF TOURISM & its a promo livery, such as the Grand Bahama Island livery on Continental Connection's Beech 1900D.

The logo is plastered on billboards all over the country, on bahamas.com, in literature, etc. Each little "bubble" represents one of the islands in the Bahamas..

Well now we have a liveries that cover the whole spectrum. At one end we have BWIA and at the other we have this new Bahamasair livery. I say that BWIA is best Bahamasair right now and the old livery is worst but others may say vice versa.

Well, I must say that it certainly contrasts with some of the other Caribbean carriers that have much more color (BWIA, Air Jamaica, Caribbean Star, LIAT, etc.). But since it's only temporary, in that it's to promote the Ministry of Tourism, most of you fellow a.netters won't have to "suffer" long.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I think it looks good. Stylish, with the font and the modern bubble design, and there's something about those blue engines. But when given a choice between this livery and the current Bahamasair one, I'd say go with the Aquamarine, Gold, and Black!  Smile

I received a private e-mail from a gent who was involved in the design and below are excerpts from what he told me:

1. It was to be more colourful, a curvy painted belly was suggested. Alas the budget was tight and time limited as the plane was due out of its C check.

2. UP wanted a new look and kind of have it. I hope to get more colour on the plane eventually.

3. As I do not have an A.net account... please feel free to inform the posters.

4. Thank you for posting link to your wonderful photos. Bring a smile to my face to see a scheme I created on a plane  Smile

Personally, I feel the BWIA livery is a bit much. I prefer the idea on the second A340-300 with their new logo on the tail. If only they painted the engine cowlings in the same pattern as the tail, I think they'd have a hit.

The gentleman involved in the new design asked me to post this website where he is conducting a poll on whether people like the scheme or not and what they would change if the existing scheme doesn't cut it. The poll is at:

He assures me that the name and e-mail address you give at the site will only be retained by him.

Personally, I think it's the first BEARABLE livery that Bahamasair has ever had. Room for improvement, but much better than the orange/green (sorry, "yellow"/"aquamarine") liveries of the past 3 decades.

I'm just waiting for the day when Bahamasair gets proper planes and staff... (routes would be nice, too.)

Hey Guys,

I personally know the designer of this new livery very well. When I first saw the scheme, I too thought it was lacking and needed a kick as people have mentioned. For example, perhaps a couple of curves or something.

However, as mentioned by the designer and relayed by Don, Bahamasair did not want to invest too heavily in paint costs etc. The simple reason being that the 732s don't have that long left now with the airline, and they wanted to have an aircraft to promote the islands and to also show off a new image.

Also don't forget that the more paint you put on an aircraft, the heavier it is and therefore the less payload and cargo etc it can carry.....meaning less revenue. Similarly, certain colours cost and weigh more than others. I think that's why we see so many "euro-white" liveries nowadays.

In my opinion, I think it is a vast improvement over the tired, outdated livery we see currently on the rest of the Bahamasair fleet, and this livery brings some life to the airlines image.

Good work Mr Designer, keep it up!

Henry
