I used to love seeing Scanair and Conair in the 80s at many popular Med airports. I think its such as shame that scandinavians now have to fly 'Britannia' or 'Mytravel' whe they travel on holiday.

Do they resent having to fly on airlines with British origins? Would they rather fly on a true Scandinavian charter airline? Do they miss the likes of Norway Airlines, Blue Scandinavia, Scanair and Conair?

I do'nt think it is much of a difference really, since both My Travel and Britannia Nordic have Scandinavian crew. We don't have the British feel when flying these airlines if that is what you mean?!

We also have other charter airlines like Swedish Novair, Spanish carriers, Turkish and Egyptian carriers and of course SAS ans SAS Braathens.

I'm sure I've read that the average passenger takes little or no interest in what, or with who they fly.

Perhaps it doesn't matter?

Plenty of Scandinavian airlines have entered the UK market....

Air Ops
Time Air Sweden
Nordic European
Transjet
Norway AL
Sterling European
Finnair
Transwede
Viking Airlines
etc.

All have based and/or had regular operations through the UK.

yeah, people dont know who they are flying on-ask anyone in the NCL region and they will insist they flew to Ibiza or Gran Canaria direct from NCL on British Airways! They obviously dont know, or dont care.

They know when they 'perceive' what they think is an unkown, dunious, perhaps 'dodgy' airline turns up at the gate to taken them on their jolly holidays.

As my nanna exclaimed a few years ago when a Peach Air Tristar turned up to take her 'Oh my god, its got a chimney' in reference to the tail-mounted engine, 'that thing must be as old as the hills'

They dont notice when Britannia or Monarch takes them to the Tenerifes and Palma' but they do when they aint never heard of the airline, it makes them apprehensive.
