Hi, why are the only operators of the A340-500 Emirates and Singapore Airlines? and why does Airbus keep their aircraft in production (like A300/A310) when Boeing Completly close the line? (757/737 classic)
thanks alot in advance!!!

because Its not an aircraft everybody needs for theire own curently routes. And with the 777-200LR as competition the Orders aren't there every week.

about the A300/A310, Some airlines like Air Honkong and UPS are still taking delivery of new A300-600F's and since the A310 is build on the same Line there is no reason to close the line, although with the A350 i expect Airbus will close the line soon.

and don't forget that the 737Classic is replaced with Newer 737 models like 300's 400's 500's and eventually with 600 700 800 900, while the A330 isn't a real A300 A310 replacement (range, Pax)

>Hi, why are the only operators of the A340-500 Emirates and Singapore Airlines?<

They aren't. Air Canada and soon TG have the airplane

>and why does Airbus keep their aircraft in production (like A300/A310)<

There are still A300-600R freighters coming off the line, and since the A310 is built on the same line, they can keep that open too.

>when Boeing Completly close the line? (757/737 classic)<

The 737 line has never closed. The 737NG and Classic are from the same line.
If you wanted a less efficient, shorter ranged airplane, I am sure Boeing would build you some, but most don't want that. The 757 line did close, after over 1000 built, because they did not have orders for any part of the line.

Hi Burberry753,

at the moment the A340-500 is flown by EK, AC and SQ.
But TG and EY are awaiting theirs.

The Qatar-government has an VIP -500 on order:

" but do you think their will ever be any new pax orders for A310-300/A300-600??"

There is little likelihood of additional orders for A300/310 pax models. With UPS's cancellation of 35+ A300F's in conjunction with its A380F order, the entire line will close soon as well.

No they don't, the single and only order has long since been delivered.

I believe it is still being outfitted. I have spent much of the last year in Doha, and it hasn't been seen there.

AC just has 2 of them (C-GKOL & C-GKOM), which they use along with their A340-300 to HKG and DEL flights.
No news whether they plan to go in for more.

Air Canada has Airbus 340-300, and 340-500's operating right now too.
