I was trying to buy a ticket for my brother GRU-MAD using travelocity and got a very good quote on IB!
I went to their website and got quite a surprise when I saw the new design. It is much better looking than the previous one and much more helpful when trying to find cheap fares. It gives you many fare options like WN's website. Kudos to IB...

Hola!

Yea, I saw it too. I was getting pretty tired of that dark-blue background. Although I have to say that I still have trouble booking a multi-segment trip. Well, at least its good that they re-did their website. I have a question tho...

On their website, they have a picture of the Economy Seat. Is that seat used on European flights or also on Intercontinental flights? Anyone know?

Thanks

Yup...

But after checking with IE it looks nice though!

Its nice, more "a la europea", its similar to the LH's and AZ's design.

Well, the site definitely looks better and the ability to choose among fares is a major improvement. I was not able to complete a booking, however (maybe the site is not Safari-compatible? if so, what a bummer!).

Also, what I found funny is that it makes no mention whatsoever of IB's new Business Class, but it still shows the old Business and First class.

BTW, I hate that "ticketing charge". It's an e-ticket, por Dios!

Do you know if it will let me use a mexican credit card in a place other than the "Mexico" part of the site (i.e., is my mexican credit card only valid for the purchase of itineraries originating in Mexico?).

It looks a little similar to what IB used to have before they went to the dark blue color. It seems pretty easy to use.

When are the aircraft getting their new look?

IB will not formally launch its new long-haul BusinessFirst product until Q2 2005. As you know, this new service will replace IB's existing First and Business products and will offer flat, albeit slightly inclined, seats.

Some of IB's newer A340-600's have been introduced into service with the new seats already installed. However, IB will not formally announce this new product for another 2/3 months.

IB will retrofit its existing fleet of 18 A340-300's and 8 A340-600 [except for the ones introduced into service with the new interiors already installed].

According to the latest IB Plus newsletter:
80% of the fleet by Q4 2005 and 1Q 2006
100% BY 1Q 2006

The new site was designed by Indra http://www.indra.es and is powered with an Amadeus solution too.

THIS SUCKS!!!!

There's no way I can see the website. It must be experiencing high loads on the servers so I'm better going to wait until another day before I end up loosing the little patience I have left.

Please don't turn this thread into an IB-bashing fest!  Wink

>There's no way I can see the website<

I guess it still has a few bugs that need fixing. But I think it's definitely an improvement over the old site.

Guess what?
It does not work! Web site is down.........  Sad
IB needs to improve their service, make it similar to the rest of the Oneworld Alliance.
Also, start cleaning those planes. Unless they are brand new from Airbus they are always so..... dirty. The boarding doors and the tails needs some water and soap!

The truth is that the website layout is not new at all (I've just been able to see about 50% of the start page...after about 200 attempts). I had recieved the announcement of the new website on my latest Iberia Plus newsletter.

For the last 2 or 3 months, the "news" section of IB's website was being shown with this same "new" layout...it worked fine then.

The "funny" part of this is when you try to purchase a ticket online and after you click on the button to complete your purchase you get the "sorry, our servers are overloaded" message...pretty nice, huh? I guess one will have to get back to the old way and call Serviberia on the 902 400 500 and get ready for a €30,00 or € 40,00 ticket issuing charge (even if it's an e-ticket).

Ohhh the wonders of modern technology....  Angry

What does this have to do with the website???  old
C'mon...stick to the topic at hand please.

P.S. - The website is working just fine now. Must be overloaded as many people are trying to check out the new site. Plus...have patience...all new things have certain kinks to work out.

You can use a credit card all over the world, that´s no problem. A limitation with Iberia and other carriers is that officially the card used has to be shown at check-in if you have an e-ticket, which means that you aren´t able to book a ticket for someone else. I think this isn´t a good thing and airlines lose potenial passengers by this.

If you try http://www.iberia.es instead of iberia.com you don't get the message:

" At this moment, our online services are not available. Please try again in a few minutes.
We apologize for the inconvenience. "

Yeah, I was on its site earlier. I must say that I prefer it to its other one.
