United will re-introduce the A320 to Vail/Eagle County Airport this June through September for the "slower" season.

Vail/Eagle is dominated by 757 service by a few of the U.S. major airlines. UA also serves Vail with the BAe-146.

I've watched the 757s t/o from this airport. . .not only do they have to start from an extreme high altitude, but they have to climb very steep and do an interesting bank to avoid mountains. I have yet to catch an A320. Smile

United has operated the A320 to EGE in the past.

You've gotta be kidding. I searched, I asked, I've tapped my memory, and no A320.

Okay Neil, obviously you've got some knowledge I don't, so I'll roll with it and change the title. . .dammit. Wink

I remember this from a thread a few months ago... the same sorta discussion came up.

Someone said the A320 couldn't op EGE, and it turned out that United had one in the schedule right at that very moment.

This was probably 3 months ago, maybe a bit more.

EGE-DEN would be no problem. It is EGE-LAX and EGE-ORD that are the bigger issues

Yes the 320 has been in there several times for the schedule. Winter loads are great. The chamber of commerce there heavily subsidizes large aircraft flying into that market.

The 757's impressive performance out of EGE, though necessary for longer routes like the nonstops to the East Coast, is less critical on the short hop to DEN. UA has used not only the A320, but also the 737-300 on that route.
