I'm baffled...

It's the 3rd most popular pic of the yesterday.

Am I missing something?

Because people post it in forums, creating more interest. Plus it's a nice shot.

The first I heard of it was on the main photo search page.

Has it experiences celebrity in a previous post? If it has, then I certainly couldn't find it.

The screeners usually pull out phrases like that, which seem like blatant attempts to gain hits. The "look at the captain waving" ones are usually first to go. I'm surprised this one made it in.

So people are tuning in to see if they can spot the 747 on approach?

When he said "nice colours" I thought maybe there was some livery abnormality... perhaps not.

Okaaaay.

Exactly. They see the little phrase in there, so they click on the link to see if they can find it. Their curiosity directly leads to more hits. Sneaky little photogs, aren't they.  Wink

I actually liked it because it gives you a real impresion of the massive size of the 747, when compared to the building.Plus,I wanted to see that 747 in approach...

it's nice to put comments like that on pics, it adds to the whole idea of photogrpahy....you can learn about what angle or aspect the person was taking the pic for...i think it's shallow to just say people write things in the remarks part to get views....

It just LOOKS good. I thought it strange that it was the most popular, but when you look at the composition of the photograph: the completely unobstructed view of the 747, the early evening colours of the sky opposite the green/brown/grey hues of the glass building on the right, which show off the white/grey of Lufthansa very well, it's just a VERY good shot.

Braybuddy, it is a nice shot, but it did have a hit-seeking comment a few hours ago though.  Smile

Considering this has already been a very popular shot, surely there is no harm in telling us what the comment was that started it all?

I think that pretty much explains it  Wink

I've got a grand total of one photo in the database - if I put a comment like "look at the man in the top right with a green hat" it'd probably get thousands of views... But I'd rather people clicked on the photo because they like the look of it, not because of something pointed out unnecessarily. We don't go searching through the database for comments like these, we've got better things to do. But if we see one, or one's pointed out, chances are it'll disappear.

For my part, I never read the caption -- I usually don't until I enlarge the pic: I just click on the photos that appeal. I'm sure a lot of other airliner.netters do too.

I totally agree. I clicked on it, even though I didn't read whatever comment it had.

When I first saw the pic i thought I've seen it before. There was a similar shot of a LH 744 with a mysterious 747 mentioned in the remark.

But stil at 1750 hits, some days after accepting. And that with the remark
Can you find the clue to the third 747 in this view?

So the here talked about pic must have been clicked for other reasons. Maybe people liked it?

Georg.

Last question: Why is this thread so popular that it's listed on the Frontpage???

Yeah, it'd be fully understandable why this picture was so popular if it was a QF 747 that were pictured.. right?  Wink.
