From what I understand the cockpit of the entire 787 family will be the same as that of the 777 family. Is there any chance that the new version of the 737 could come out with a flight deck that is common to the 777 and 787? Also does anyone think that there is any chance in hell that the 747Adv could be included in this program? I appreciate any input that any of you may have.

No. It will not be the same. It will be "based on" but feature about 55% more display space and a similar layout.

You could argue that Boeing already was going to a somewhat common cockpit... the 747-400, 777, 767-400, and 737NG feature a very similar 6 display layout.

What really equalizes the Airbus cockpits is the FBW. The 787 will be Boeing's first opportunity to extend the 777 design philosophy.

All of the next gen Boeings will use the Honeywell interface developed for the 777 and Primus. Some displays will be different than others and some aircraft will have more systems than others. But yes, they will be common with a 3-5 day vs. 10-14 day transition between aircraft variants. True commonality only exists inside of a particular aircraft family but if you can cut the transition time back as planned it's just as good as having a common type.

consider the costs saved by increasing commonality, just in training flight crew:
roughly 4 days of training
20 Captains @ $100.00 per hour x 30 hours= $60,000
20 1st Officers @ $40.00 per hr x 30 hrs = $24,000
84K

Compared to
roughly 12 days of training
20 Caps @ $100 per hr x 72 hrs= $144,000
20 FA's @ $40 per hr x 72 hrs = $80.000
224K
It is easy to see where the benefit of commonality certainly plays a role in an airlines choice in fleet selection, and brand preferences. As they say- Money talks, and BS walks. I'm glad to see that BOEING is continuing to go with this program. They lost alot of gound and market share in delaying the implimentation of this (dont get me wrong, this is not anti/pro anyone). I like to see product innovation and evolution, and when a product cant keep up it becomes weak and gets left behind.
