I was on United.com refreshing my memory about their in-flight audio programming, and I noticed that they no longer carry Channel 9's famous "From The Flight Deck" ATC streams on 737s. They're only on available on 777s, A319s, A320s, and 747s. Apparently, they have Starbucks "Hear Music" on Ch. 9 on 737s now.

Anyone who has flown a UA 737 recently and can attest to this, I'd love to hear from ya.

This isn't true. I flew on a UA 733 recently and Channel 9 was on. It is simply a matter of pilot discretion.

According to that grid, they took it off the 737, 757 and 767. Major bummer. One of the reasons I regularly fly on United is because of Channel 9.

It's most likely still there. There would be no point for them to spend the money on such a modification just to spend money to deactivate it fleetwide.

hemispheres may edition shows channel 9 available on the 37 up to the 400..N1120a probably is correct and disc marketing shows audio entertainment(music)that they produce and ua has the option of using the music on ch9 or switching it over to atc...

Thanks for the responses. I hope N1120a is correct...and now that I think about it, I remember asking an f/a on my last UA flight if atc would be offered, and she did say that it was up to the captain.

I guess I'll find out when I fly them again this week  

All of the mainline flights have Channel 9 installend and it is just up to pilots discretion. The reason you see other programming there is that there is backup from the audio system if Ch 9 is deactivated, but it most likely will be functioning as normal. Somewhere between 60 and 90% of flights have it working presuming you have a functional headset and audio in the armrest.
