I'm having difficulty identifying the registration of two Embraer EMB-120's belonging to Continental Express. I cannot see a registration number and there is no numbers on the nose gear door (which is the last 3 digital of the reg). There is however another number on the fuselage near the tail. It looks like a fleet number. The two aircraft I cannot identify have numbers of 273 and 297. I can't find anything that lists Continental's internal fleet numbers including the JP book.

Anyone know what the registration of these two aircraft are? Out of curiosity, why would Continental use a fleet number different than the number on the gear door?

Well considering the 120's have not been in service with CO for a while. You may have to go back a few years to get the actual registration.

I belive Skywest operates several CO EMB-120s around texas, you may want to try searching Skywest's fleet for the reg numbers.

All the CO 120's that were operating in Houston, up to last month, are ex-CO owned birds, but owned and operated by SkyWest. They still had the old CO registration on them still. SkyWest most likely changed the ship number in order to make it fit into into their EMB-120 fleet, which is in the 100, 200, and 500 range.

The IAH operation is slowly dwindling down, and the aircraft are being parked at SGU.

I know what you are saying Brick. I have wondered the same thing and never managed to find the answer. The number differences you mention go way back to when CO express operated the 120s. It's not just a substitution of 200 for 700s because the other two digits don't correlate. I'd be interested to find out.

I checked SkyWest Airlines in my 1999-2000 JP book. That's as far back as I can go. The fleet numbers for the SkyWest EM2 fleet are not listed.

I hate un-ID'd aircraft! Especially when there is a clue!

Are you talking about the ones that actually belonged to COex or the ones that OO flew for CO last year?

These aircraft are parked at Roswell, NM and probably have been there for a while. These likely aren't former SkyWest aircraft...

Through a little detective work tonight I was able to find that #297 is registered as N16723.

Now I just need to find what #273 is registered as.
