I sent them a request for information, but never received anything from them. They want $8 million for a letter of intent. That would take some trust, wouldn't it???

This is all the airlines do it now... America West saw US on ebay and were the only ones to bid and thus we have a merger and I think thats how AF bought KLM too

As much as I'd love to see new airlines come alive and flurish, AA/MQ would crush'em in an instant. Where is the O&D market for the Virgin Islands, there isn't enough to support an airline with up to 50 aircraft. (?) These islands depend on tourism as a source of income, that's a highly seasonal industry. Maybe I'm missing something that they see.

Well for a supposed start up airline there's a remarkable lack of publicity about it.

...And there's just something that that isn't quite right about an airline selling stocks on ebay...maybe it's just me?  

Opening up an new airline in the Caribbean is a folly. All of the Airlines currently in operation can't rub two nickels together on a good day. You'd probably make more money investing in an interisland bridge network, I'm sure people would be willing to pay $25 US for tolls to the neighboring islands as opposed to the $150+ dollars it takes for a 20 minute plane trip.

$8M for 20% values the airline at $40M.

With no prospectus, no indication of a business plan, no apparent assets etc etc etc.

I heard back from them today. They claim to have secured a fleet of six ex-AA B727-200's. The airline will be based out of SXM. No word on destinations or startup date.

The whole thing sounds EXTREMELY optimistic.

It'd be interesting. You'd have route planners advocating SXM-MAF or somesuch 'because it'd just be cool to see a 727 at MAF'. You'd have tenders out to Boeing for the 747Adv, 772LR and 787 as well as Airbus for the A388, A35X, A346, because 'it'd be so cool to have a widebody'. Then you'd have folks trying to ditch the 727s 'cause they think anything not borne of Toulouse isn't airworthy. Oh wait, sounds just like A.net!
