I mean it just looks smaller and somewhat nicer than a 747 or even worse, A Boeing 777 (with such big nacelles) Pardon me for saying this. |
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: flyf15 Posted 1998-11-27 16:40:40 and read 534 times. A340s (current models) use CFM56 turbofans, which are the same general type as what 737s use. B747s and B777s use much larger engines.
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: A1ex Posted 1998-11-27 17:43:47 and read 535 times. In fact, B777s engines are the biggest aero engines ever built. No wonder they have NIG nacelles. Especially the B777-300s...

Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: flyf15 Posted 1998-11-27 18:09:05 and read 533 times. Actually, In size, the 777s are larger
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: Iainhol Posted 1998-11-27 18:18:24 and read 532 times. I saw the SR 71 and those are 10 + feet long. And another thing what are we measuring on?
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: A1ex Posted 1998-11-27 18:35:13 and read 532 times. I thought we were measuring the diameter of nacelles...
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: CX747 Posted 1998-11-27 21:19:53 and read 532 times. That is correct A1EX the 777 has the most powerful commercial engines available.
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: Jkw Posted 1998-11-27 22:11:14 and read 532 times. Yeah, at 94,000 + lbs of thrust for some versions, one puts out more than 3 DC-9's strung together
Topic: RE: A340's engine Username: Mok Weng Lock Posted 1998-11-28 00:13:25 and read 533 times. B737s use slightly different models of the CFM 56. That's what I found out.
