trag·e·dy n. pl. trag·e·dies
A disastrous event, especially one involving distressing loss or injury to life: an expedition that ended in tragedy, with all hands lost at sea.

Incident, crash, even disaster maybe, but not tragedy.

Just to pick nits.

This website is, in my opinion, the best source available on line for aviation accident statistics: http://aviation-safety.net/index.php

Just looking at this year's database ( http://aviation-safety.net/database/dblist.php?Year=2005 ), you can see there have been a number of write-offs (category A1), thankfully most of them without fatalities. There was however the Kam Air 737 which crashed in Afghanistan in February, killing 104.

One thing remains certain; whichever aeroplane or airline you choose, by far the most dangerous part of any journey by air remains the cabride to the airport!  Smile

Is it only me or are the damages that happened on this a/c reparable?

To me, whenever a airplane is lost, it is a tragedy, a loss of life, almost. But then again, those pilots lives are probably ruined, so there you go (maybe).
