I don't see how having the mechanics on strike is good for the stock price. Everybody is calling this a mgmt victory. In a few weeks, we'll really see.

LUVRSW, I've got some stocks I'd like to sell directly to you right now if that's how you view the stock market... in the meantime if you've got any NWA stock I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands. I've got this bridge in London too, if you're interested.

Hey Tornado, the bridge got moved over 20 years ago. Its in Lake Havasu City Arizona.
Look it up.
Try for the one in Frisco cause I already bought the one in Brooklyn.
No foolin though, check out the money and wall street sites. Nw is the best of the big six stock to buy TODAY...thats subject to change next week of course.

I agree in the short term, but for long-term thoughts I would think CO would be best of the legacies (still nothing to brag about though). Another idea is jumping early on the HP/US bandwagon, and hoping for some quick profits before they choke to death on PHL and whatnot.

the smart investors (or the ones taking advantage of the situation) are selling now and hoping more people panic so they can buy the stock at a cheaper price later on. Hedge funds do quick selling like this to make fast cash.

Filing Chapter 11 would be a godsend for Northwest. The fact of the matter is that they have a profitable network with low LCC competition, what's holding them back is employee contracts and an inability to reorganize their labor situation. This isn't Delta, United, or USAirways where those airlines are getting smacked in the face by LCC competition despite significant employee concessions. Barring any significant situation, if NW goes into bankruptcy, they'll come out very strong.

It would be an easier sell to us eeh-ville employees if the senior officers and and executives would quit taking these bonuses while asking us to take the lionshare of the concessions. Also, threatening us with job cuts and outsourcing flying with foriegn workers to take our jobs from us kinda leaves a bad taste in our mouths.

While that is partially true, labor is the only thing left that they can cut that they can control. Though Management is being retarted. However, whats really holding everyone back really is FUEL! But unfortunately thats the thing they cant control price of no matter what.
