Before anyone asks, no, the airline is NOT related to the Al Jazeera television station based in Qatar. "Al Jazeera" in Arabic means "island" or "peninsula" depending on how it is used in context. In this situation, it is refering to the Arabian Peninsula.

I hoped it would fly to some European destination, as fares to the Gulf States from Europe still are on the high side. But then again, this may be a bit of a long route for a no-thrills airline.

Um, try the fare? You can fly Air Arabia during high seasons from Bahrain to Sharjah and quickly onwards to Beirut with a short connection time. The fare is roughly 45-50% cheaper than direct flights with Gulf Air. However, I think during low-season, there is only 1 daily flight on the SHJ-BEY segment which dictates a night stay in Sharjah.

I'm eager to find out about Jazeera's fares. A very low fare could justify a night stay in KWI   Any ideas on the fare?

According to the website it will cost you 20 Bahrain Dinar from BAH-KIWI and 39 BD KWI-BEY ,but you can check the website now for prices if you want ,

I would like to see either Jazeera Airways or Air Arabia introduce IST as a new destination (there's probably a restriction here). It would make things so much cheaper!!!

Hey, the engine cowlings don't look too bad! The rest of the plane's no good though. Oh well, what can you do? I'm excited to see how Jazeera can perform in this market, especially being privately owned.

Well that's not stopping Al Jazeera from launching an English channel to be broadcasted all over the world including the US (it will have a broadcast center in Washington D.C.) called Al Jazeera International, so let's theoretically say Jazeera Airways in the future decides to get A330s or A340s to launch low-fare long-haul flights to the US, the name issue shouldn't stop them either...

Would be great to base one or two aircraft in Beirut and stretch services from BEY to ATH ,IST and Malta. That would then allow low-cost transit from Europe to Middle East all on two different Low-Cost airlines ( ex. Berlin-Athens on Easyjet and Athens-Beirut on Jazeera..)
