Do US still have 767's and if so what routes are they on ?
does anyone else think they have the nicest 767 livery around ??
Actually what 767 do you think wears the nicest color scheme

note: This topic is half n half, Im actually really wanting to know if US still have 767's but Im also interested in what people think is the nicest 767 livery around.. so I guess half of this topic should be in general aviation and half in polls etc etc..

Yes US Airways still has 767s. I know they fly a few domestic routes like CLT-PHL, PHL-MCO, MCO-CLT. I was on one last month from SJU-PHL on an equipment sub (was supposed to be the A330). They also fly many international routes like PHL-SNN, PHL-DUB, PHL-Venice to name a few. Hopefully someone else can come up with a longer list of routes.

As for the livery, I think it looks nice, but they are in desperate need of a paint job. Well, they actually need a lot more than just new paint. The interiors were quite shabby, even in Envoy where I was seated. I honestly think the nicest 767 livery belongs to Hawaiian Airlines. I can't wait to see the 767 in the new US Airways livery.

Yes, they only operate 200ER's though! They have 10 left in the fleet! They are mainly used on European routes such as MUC, AMS, SNN, DUB... ex PHL and some domestic routes as Kris said! (Looks like Usairways85 beat me to it!  Wink

Yea pretty nice, although not the best, we will se the new sceme on the 200's soon though!

During the Summer timetable, 767s should be flying these trans-atlantic routes:

PHL-SNN
PHL-DUB
PHL-BCN
PHL-VCE
PHL-GLA
PHL-AMS
PHL-MUC
PHL-FRA (1X 767, 1X A333)

PHL-Bermuda was seeing a 767 for awhile as well. Not sure what CLT has. I beleive PIT has lost all trans-atlantic flying.

SNN, DUB, BCN, VCE, and GLA do not operate in the winter. MAD downgrades from A333 to 767 in the winter.

Perhaps an ignorant question, but I'm going to pose it anyway:

If all those trans-Atlantic flights are not operated during the winter, where do the planes go? More domestic flights? Latin America?

Most of the "big" carriers tend to be oriented east-west (within North America, or North America to Europe/Asia) during the summer, and north-south (Canada/Northern US to southern US, Caribbean, or South America) during the summer.

I've noticed US has confirmed them all together for the next summer , maybe it could be a good sign for these seasonal flights. Other infos about those routes?

PHL-GLA has performed very well and there are rumours of the A330 being placed on the route next Summer. I can't speak for the other seasonal flights.

Depending on just when during the winter, some combination of CUN, SJU, MCO, STT, NAS.

last month I flew on N646US and N656US from PHL-BCN and VCE-PHL respectively. When the bookings were made I was excited to be flying the A330 but found out we were going to be flying an ex-Piedmont 767-200ER I was less than enthusiastic. I flew Envoy class and had the seat next to me empty on both legs. It was kind of an empty first class. The service was so-so, they had old lady flight attendants and old crummy seats with no real cool electronics. The food was OK but on the return leg from Venice, they had microwavable pizzas which i liked a lot. I even got extras!

The cabin was very dated looking and I think the planes would better serve US Airways with a cabin spruce-up. New seats would let them charge more for tickets and turn their cabin into a premium, classy cabin. The problem with this is the merger with low-cost America West, which isn't looking to upgrade any sort of first class. So I guess my complaints fall on deaf ears, but at least i've told my story.

I would think they keep them on European flights as these are (from what I've heard) very profitable.

They used to bring their 762s into LAX often and then every once in a while.

Well, I flew the VCE flight this summer and It was at least 80% full, and porbably should have been somewhere around 95% if they hadnt had so many cancellations/delays in PHL due to bad weather. Also they loded a couple cargo containers on too so from that I would say they are doing quite well, at least to VCE. The flight was pretty good too, good service, good food, add some ptvs and I might consider US across the pond more often.

If the new US uses the 767 on the PHX-HNL route does that require that the aircraft crew be pre-merger US employees and not HP? If so, that would appear to create a political nightmare in PHX.

During the winter period, the 767s are reassigned to some beach destinations such as routes to San Juan and Cancun as well as some turns to major tourist centers such as Orlando where lots of capacity is needed out of US's hubs at CLT and PHL. The 762s stay busy year round. Also, heavy maintainance is scheduled for aircraft during the lower demand winter period so at any given time during the Sept-Dec 15 and Jan-Feb periods, one or more of the 767s may be out of service; of course, US wants the entire fleet available for the summer rush (this is typical of most carriers mx schedules.)

As for a 762 update, its very unclear - US does have orders for the A332 outstanding, the A332s were to replace the 762ERs - its nearly impossible to get a straight answer concerning the status of the A332 order and nothing definite will be known until US winds up its reogranization and the merger with HP is complete. Ten A332s are on order I believe, to replace the 762s one for one. One the other hand, there have been rumors that US/HP plan to keep the 762s around for higher-demand services to Hawaii, the Carib and Mexico, so anything is possible. Its also rumored that the 762s may be used on hub to hub flights between PIT, CLT and PHX, LAS - time will tell.

Finally, dont look for many of the seasonal European routes to go year-round - demand falls off very dramatically on the north atlantic during the winter escpecially on leisure oriented routes to spots in southern europe.

Almost a year is a long time. Hell in that same time frame US has gone from written off for dead, to one of the legacies with an above average chance of survival.  Wink
