The national carrier of Libya has restarted operations to several european destinations again after the eight embargo.
I wanna know something more about that "unknown" airline. Are they intending to start long haul operations ? If yes, what aircraft types are they gonna operate ?
Or, have you ever experienced their inflight service ?

Thanx.

I've heard rumors that they're in talks w/ Airbus for the A330/A340 family, but that's it and I've never flown them...

Hi! Libyan Arab Airlines its a kinda of a classic! During the 70's and 80's we could see their planes flying all over ( at least in Europe! ). I think what happened was after the Lockerbie affair they lost the routes they had until then. I remember seeing some B. 727-200's and B. 707-320B/C's in London and I know they had an order for 3 B. 747-200 Combi's that were cancelled after the Pan Am 747 crash, those 747's went latter to Varig. Now that Libya is opening a bit I'm sure they'll come back soon. I was in Heathrow in February 2000 and I saw an A320 with Libyan Arab Airlines full colours, I know that this plane was leased by irish airline Transaer but I also know that Airbus is ready to sale some very good Airbuses to those arab fellows!!!
Regards!

Just what we need an airline to transport terrorist around the world.. Not what I want to see flying around...

excuse me mr."Elite_Flyer", but who in the world do you think you are judging innocent people like that? just because four or five men from libya are terrorists doesn't mean the whole libyan population are terrortists, you really have lessons to learn on prejudice because it is quite apparant that you don't know the first thing about it. i am not defending them because they are arabs, but because they are people just like you, and the statement that you made was truly racist. you clearly don't have any ethincs or morals, and yet you have the guts to call yourself an elite flyer, more like a narrow-minded_fool.

Elite_Flyer....what a stupid thing to say.

If we are to take your words seriously, then most airlines around the world have been doing this for years.

What a very narrow minded un-intelligent thought, Elite_Flyer.

Libyan ordered A330s, A340s and A320s but I forgot the numbers.
I agree with KWI and B-707 concerning Elite's post.

Yes LN ordered some 340's. Not sure about 330's but very likely too. They also want 777 but because of the sanctions, Boeing will be unable to deliver.
About the "new colours", I don't like the green engines and the green strip on the fin is also out of place. Perhaps thinning the cheat line and lowering it below the windows, as well as using a more attractive font for the titling, would have done a much better job. I think this livery is only an interim one. Can't wait to see how the 340's will look.
What do you think?
let's keep this form clean please.
