First Air will soon be phasing out their two classic 727-100Cs. They will be replaced with two all-passenger 737-200Advs.  Sad The YOW-YFB run switches over on Dec 11th, while the YUL-YVP-YFB run goes 732 on Feb 5th. The end of another era in Canadian aviation is nearing.

Not sure what's happening with their 727-200 Combi. I'm guessing it will probably be in an all-cargo config most of the time to replace the lost cargo capacity.

Too bad; it's one of the more unique things to see at YUL these days.

True, but it's neat to see there they're being replaced by 737-200's!

Yeah! The 737-200 is all but extinct in the UK. I think only Ryan Air operates them and last I checked on that was a while back. You are lucky to get these old birds still operating.

Best we'll get here is a 747 classic and the odd DC-10 from DAS and/or Northwest... but hasn't NWA discontinued MSP-LGW w/ DC-10?

Hi!

Surely this "workhorse" will me missed specially by those First Air pilots! The 727-100 was power all over....those 3 tail engines were just fantastic! TAP had 8 727-100's for many years and those airplanes were used ALSO at Funchal/Madeira when the airport was short! That plane could take off with full passengers, cargo and fuel load and it was not a big deal for it... the only distinct mark for TAP was the fact that when they were landing you could see a black smoke trail beside almost looked like the plane had water-injection engines!!! Take a look:

Ah, that means that (finally) LB and 5L will be able to nourish their 727/722 fleet with additional 727's! I´m sure the fleet managers are rubbing their hands greedy to get their chance to add "new" 727's to their fleets!

Yeah, C-GVFA, which if I remember correctly, was built in '74, would be a young addition to LB's fleet.  Wink

I guess they'll ramp-up ops with the 722F and have the 722C, except on ad-hoc charters, mostly in all-freight config. Cargo demand to the arctic is high.

I sure will miss seeing the 721s at YOW.
