Check this story out...

http://wcco.com/local/local_story_313141101.html

(AP) Minneapolis Northwest Airlines has asked a judge to slap its regional partner Mesaba Airlines with a contempt-of-court judgment.

The two bankrupt carriers are feuding over whether they have the right to withhold payments to each other.

Mesaba's own request for a restraining order against Northwest was planned for Thursday in Minneapolis. With that in mind, Northwest asked for an immediate hearing on the contempt of court request before its bankruptcy judge in New York.

Fortunately, as the link you put there stated, the judge declined to hear the case.

Thats weird, the website updated the story, changing it from the original story. When I posted the link, they hadn't had a ruling yet from the judge. This can't be good for either party, I think Mesaba's days are numbered. The only one sitting back and smiling is Pinnacle!

I wonder what would happen if Mesaba withheld the flyer NW doesn't pay for, if that could be allocated. I assume then NW could get them on breach of contract?

Last I heard NWA owns the Avro's leases them to XJ.
This story is so weird, NWA has to pay XJ money for flying, won't pay it all....XJ has to pay money for lease payments won't pay because NWA is not paying it money.

Something has to give. Boys play nice in the sand box. Its like this is my ball and I make the rules, I'm losing the game so I am taking my ball and I'm going home.

Hmmmm, I thought NW leased the planes, at that was it. I didn't think Mesaba then leased them from NW.

As if Northwest would be above stiffing Pinnacle in the same manner they have done with Mesaba? (Not talking about the ARJ leases but rather the million$ owed by NW to XJ for services provided)

And as if Northwest, who has even been known to be so arrogant -- and in contempt (if not in a technically legal sense, in principle) -- as to withhold fees to the MAC (who manage MSP) that had already been collected by NW in ticket sales, would not stiff Pinnacle in a proverbial heartbeat if they see fit to do so?

Please tell us what Pinnacle has to sit back and smile about.

We can't smile too much yet... BOTH of them (XJ and NW) owe us money!!!

Does this mean that you think UA,US,DL etc. have been making their full payments on time to it's large airports ie: ORD,PHL, and ATL?

Well your wrong, NW leases SOME of the avro's and then sub-leases them to XJ, NW owns some of the avros.

Easily solved we can take you planes away, until ya'll start payin NW and carrying your weight around...

What are you talking about? not trying to be a smart a**, just confused by your statement... 9E has been and forsees continuing to be a profitable entity in the NW system. Last I checked 9E has been carrying its weight if not more than its share...

I was merely saying that 9E can't smile about the current situation between XJ and NW over payments as 9E isn't receiving money either for service ALREADY rendered. Besides... we're all in this sinking ship together... 9E, XJ, AND NW... what happens at one of our carriers affects us all.

XJ owes 9E for ground services provided and also for some of 9E saabs leased to them... and NW owes 9E money for the services provided pre bankruptcy filing under the ASA between our carriers... but all that really matters is finding a way to pull out of the mess.. not argue over what got us there.
