Wow! Has the livery been painted on both sides?

Very exciting to see it in full colours for the first time!! Is it me or do the lines not line up at the rudder?

WOW...Wonderful!   

Will any airline operate it to YYZ?

tell me something!! how many A380s are flying around these days. I saw photos of them painted in SQ, Qantas and now EK colours.

Iluv747400, I think it is not painted, but just full size stickers (the white on the fuselage is not the same. (and I think it is on both sides)
But anyway, it is really impressive , and gives a realistic idea of what we are gonig to see in our airports very soon.
And french frog will once again be on the A.net home page, as top of the 24h

The Qantas, Singapore and Maylasian titles were all on the same plane. F-WWOW.

Aseem, the ones you have seen in SQ, Qantas and Malaysia colors are in fact the same. They used stickers to change the livery after reaching the next destination.

Good observation Kappel. I think the upper section of the rudder is turned toward the other side, hence the difference. The lower section of the rudder has its black line exactly in line.

And to fully answer Aseem's question: F-WXXL has been flying since the end of last month. XXL is now in Hamburg for interior fitting.

It's just you   . Seriously, I think the rudder is turned to the other side thus it looks like the lines are a little off.

Is it just me or does the whalejet look 'prettier to look at' by the day? I couldn't stand looking at the thing when they rolled it out but I'm actually beginning to think it's beautiful   

A lot of airlines that ordered this bird have too much white in their livery.
I'm looking forward to see Korean Air A-380,now that will be a stunner.
The more color,the more beautiful this aircraft gets IMO!

I think the rudders are painted separately, correct? That may have something to do with it...

Agreed, cover the Flying Forehead with some colour and she's a little less deformed looking. A little  

MSN004 was not slated to be delivered to Emirates but to Etihad after certification because after all it's primarily a flight test plane. Of course that could change with the abovementioned painting.

Even though the colors are essentially gigantic decals, it still looks very good indeed.   

I wonder will we see EK-livery A380-800's at JFK by 2010 or will EK just continue to fly the A340-500 on the DXB-JFK route for the foreseeable future?  

I'm happy that for once, all agree here! It looks stunning! Great job there, and the more I see it, the more I love it!

Well, some of us just decided not to say anything. Don't take that to mean we all agree that it looks stunning in Emirates colors. I think the Emirates decal is way too far back and the tail design makes the jet look very short. it is not ugly this way, but I am not "stunned" by it just because it has been decaled.

To me, the EK livery makes the tail look bigger. You guys are definately right that is an awesome livery on such a great plane. Shame QFs livery doesn't look to good on the A380.

Will EK put the suites they have on the A345 on the A380 as well?

Nonetheless - the plane looks great in those colors: hope to be seeing more and more A380s in airline liveries, because (at least I think so) that really does take a bit of the awkwardness off of the looks of the plane!

It looks amazing in EK colours... but I cannot wait to see it in QR and VS colours. Is it just me or does anyone else find it ironic that MSN004 is going to EY (if i'm not mistaken), yet it is painted in EK colours now?

I didn't think I'd see a Trent 900 on an A380 in Emirates livery.

I beleive they are preparing it for the dubai air show next week.
can't wait to see it there ...

Hate to be a party crasher. The A380, although a technical marvel, is no beauty- just doesn't do it for me.   

Perhaps a scheme with more color (KE & VS) will make the A380 more attractive.

Wow! That picture is the first time I've seen the A380 look good on the ground. Usually it looks fat and stubby, the livery now makes it look majestic! I have liked all the pictures I've seen of it in the air, it seems to fly a bit more nose-high than the ground posture, and it doesn't look awkward like it does on the ground.

The A380 looks good in Emirate's livery. It's good to finally see the Whalejet in airline colors.

I'm surprised how much better the plane looks as a real airplane as opposed to the artist concept drawings of a few years ago. While it is nowhere near as graceful looking as the A330/A340, 747-400, 767 or the 777, it has it's own charm, specially in airline colors. I can't wait to see 'em in person.

C'mon, Airbus, how about a little North American tour with a stop in Miami?

To be quite honest, IMHO, and not speaking in aerodynamic terms whatsoever, A380's tail looks too big with this paint scheme as opposed to the 777s more proportional rudder.

It does have a huge tail, it's true. But I think the 380-900 will be more proportionned as I beleve the tail wont be bigger, but the aircraft will look longer.

Don't get me wrong about the plane. I actually just don't think the EK livery is "stunning" on any jet. Too much white, the titles are too light for impact. Just doesn't do it for me.

Anyone take interesting Boeing wavy livery and slap it on the A380 in one of those "fake livery" sites? I'd like to see that...

The plane looks good from certain angles indeed. But when you start painting advertising on the bottom, it get's very unattractive in a hurry.

My first post in a couple weeks.. thought I'd comment on this new "painting"..

Quite interesting to see the A380 with different colors on it than blue and white. I think the forward part of the fuselage looks good with the large, gold Emirates logo displayed, but from the center to the aft of the fuselage, it's quite a large, profound gap of white.. not that it needs color there, but it's quite noticeable. I must admit though, the vertical stabilizer (visually) drives me nuts. To me, it seems like the only thing that really sticks out like a sore thumb on this aircraft just because it's enormous.

Both rudders looks proportional to their respective vertical stabilizers to me..

I think the A380 in full EK scheme looks amazing - finally a real version of the model on my desk!   

IMO they couldn't have picked a better colour scheme for the first fully painted aircraft (unless of course MH will be painting one in an Hibiscus colour scheme

Exactly. I can see why some people don't like it's looks. Specially that big forehead it has!   

But from certain angles I think it's a really good looking airplane. It's huge wings and engines look way cool. I think a stretched variant, if they ever build it, would look even better.

Well stated. I agree with your assessment on its aesthetic design.

The thing I keep seeing, however, when looking at the nose of the plane is a moray eel. Just reminds me of one.

Stretch version will in all probability have a slightly smaller tail, too, so the proportions will be way better.

I would say it's mainly white based due to the heat @ DXB.

I fully agree. This shows that the A380 cries out for color. LH, AF and QF liveries are all going to be similarly -too white-. But it's certainly a good thing to see the A380 in full livery!! It makes the plane come alive in a way I hadn't seen before!!

Nice video clip there! The plane does take on a much different "look" whilst in motion as opposed to in a static shot. Definitely can appreciate its power and presence more.

In a still picture, you just stare at all the details and (eye)sores.
