Just looked to see the ship routing of Ship 102, Spirit of Delta, but it shows "NF ATL." Has she been retired already, without a proper sendoff, or is she just undergoing some minor routine maintenance(beauty maintenance) for her grand finale towards the end of the month(I hope)?
Anyone in MTC or with any knowledge would be a big help.

It would be nice if they are painting it back in its delivery colors. I would love to see the widget fly again, especially at this point in Delta's history.

Delivery colors would be nice, with the 767 writting on the tail. But, if they were to leave it in the silver 75th Anniversary livery, that would be fine with me too.

A week ago, there was routing all the way through the 16th for it ... 'course that can (and probably has) changed at the drop of a hat ...
What does "NF ATL" stand for anyway? Not Flying ?

Yes, it stands for Not Flying. It will usually be in the routing database if it is taken offline for maintenance or whatever. But if it is scheduled maintenance, it usually says "MTC ATL." Normally, not flying means that it is not on flying status in a bad way. For instance, if I were too pull up any ship numbers already retired and at Victorville, they would say, "NF VCV." But when Ship 802, the MD11 that caught fire sat over by the North Hangar for the longest time, its status was always "NF ATL." So I hope she was taken out for some unscheduled maintenance and will continue to fly on through the month for a proper and celebrated retirement that Delta is always known for.

Do you have any info on the other DL 762s that were flying until at least the beginning of the month? I had thought that all of the 762s were supposed to be retired by early December.

Yea, I saw 102 at ATL on 12/1 - see my TR DL/Song LAS-MCO-ATL-LAS (by SirOmega Dec 4 2005 in Trip Reports) being towed between the A and B concourses.

I've seen 102 at the North TOC for the past five days.
I did see one 762 land at 4:45pm two days ago, not sure of the runway, but she was unmistakable. I haven't seen one since.

102 was in SLC sitting outside the DL mx hanger on Dec. 9th! Didn't see her in SLC today Dec. 10th though.

Yep, shes back in the schedule again, for the next 3 days making the rounds through PHX, JAX, and RSW. I guess her "Hangar Queen" reputation caught up with her again for a couple of days. lol

I really hope that rumor about her being used as a conference center in the Heritage Hangar is true. I'd hate to see her flying for ABX, even though they supposedly promised to return her to DL once they were done if they bought her.

Last Thursday she went ATL-BOS-ATL-SLC. On Friday she went SLC-SFO-ATL then received the NF, not flying tag. Good to see her back on her feet again.

That was the rumor, yes ...
However 102 and at least a couple of others are still zipping along ...
Search for 767-200s in the air on flightaware and you'll still see a few DL flights in there.
