An AR flight from MAD-BUE had to return to MAD 1hour after takeoff due to engine problems. Does anyone have more information about what happened?

Hola a todos,
Flight AR 1135 with 209 pax on board took off from MAD at 21:35 local time and returned to MAD due to engine problems. Pax said that at first they heard a strong noise and that then they saw flame coming out of one of the engines.Pax daid that the crew did a great job in handling the situation yet they criticized AR for how theu handled looking for hotels for everyone.

The flight was AR1131, the reggo LV-MLR, a 747-200.

The problem is in one of the stages, probably the High Pressure Compressor (N2). A problem in one engine in a quad, is not an emergency. The press is being sensasionalist about this... as usual.

Gaston, is LV-MLR the aircraft that has a limited number of cycles or is it LV-OEP?

Hola Beto!

No, MLR is the one that currently serves MAD and several charter destinations, as well as when Mr. K's presidential plane. MLR is the healthy one, OEP is the one suffering from the limited cycles.
