Hi folks,

My American relations will be coming over to sunny England soon, so I've been assigned the task of find them as cheap a deal as possible.

They'd like to depart SEA on the 26th April to LON and depart LON on the 10th May to SEA.

They're getting on a bit (one's 65), so they'd ideally prefer non-stop (so with BA), but a one-stop flight will be fine too.

The cheapest I've found thus far is $716 with UA flying SEA-ORD-AMS-LHR (AMS-LHR with BD) and thence LHR-ORD-SEA. Or $723 flying via ORD or SFO. Or $733 with BA.

Can you find anything cheaper? I'd be very grateful. When replying, please state the website.

Thanks a lot.

Hey, I was looking for a fare for an Aunt just before Christmas and I too was astonished at the price of flights to Seattle. She wanted to fly from LGW as she lives very close but there were no direct flights and she did not want to change. She ended up on BA from LHR and paid £645.

I was astonished as I thought flights to the US were cheaper. Why is Seattle so expensive?

I've found £420 on expedia with CO via IAH.

£420 for SEA-LON-SEA is actually quite a good fare for late April-early May. I was looking at UK-BOS-UK a while ago for the same period and the cheapest flights were around £320 from London, and BOS is a much shorter flight with more competition from other carriers.

Pe@rson,

I found a fare on AA through JFK for $618 US. Connecting through JFK. The best connections seem to be AA 268 SEA-JFK 0820-1632 757, AA 100 JFK-LHR 1815-0625 777. Plenty of choices though. www.aa.com. I just realized that the prices you're quoting are inclusive of all taxes and fees, and this isn't. With the taxes it comes to approx. $737 US a person, so I'm not as excited as a was at first.  Smile

Nevertheless, hope this helps, and good luck.

Cheers,
Cameron

Is Seattle only served non-stop from the UK by BA? Are there no US carriers offering a direct flight from London?

Is that before or after taxes, fees and charges? For $17 more I would recommend the BA flight. Have you checked the prices out of YVR? Both AC/BA have daily (some double-daily) non stop flights to LHR? Depending on where the live in SEA - it isn't really that far, and Canadian TSA people are much nicer than ... [forget I said that]

Pe@rson,

The best direct I could find was BA.com (US) at $726.59

NW have a fare on expedia.com for $722 via MSP to LGW and DTW on rtn.

Flight times on NW bit long though.

Yeah, it's not just in Seattle.

It appears as though fares are taking about a $200 spike around the end of April for whatever reason. Flights to LON from SFO are averaging about $505 right now; the lowest I could get for a trip I plan to take in May was $706 on BA ($726 on United, I'm Premier Elite, so guess who I'm taking.)

I'm curious as to why...I'm sure the weather wouldn't have anything to do with it.  Wink  duck  Big grin

Yo Pearson, it's your fellow devonian again, here to help?

Will your relatives be staying in your residence in Barnstaple, making airports such as EXT, BRS, BHX feasable too?

In my opinion, I would not make plans to fly on NW or DL because of a possible pilots' strike amongst both airlines.

BA is the only carrier that flies nonstop between SEA-LHR. Other European options would be NW via AMS and SK via CPH.

Have you tried AC via YYZ?

Is it possible for them to fly to YVR on QX/AS then to London via AC, BA, Thomas Cook, Zoom or what's that other international Canadian carrier?

Try www.ultimatefares.com I saw a BA 744 fare SEA-LON, I belive it was to Heathrow. The roundtrip fare offered was $513.00 U.S. on your dates.

If you can't access the site go through booking buddy.com

They need to go to London first to see friends, before coming down here for a longer stay (shame I'll be in Wales.  Silly ). CO actually has a very good offer for SEA-EWR-BRS at $751 all-in.

I was actually going to suggest this as AC has a US$578 fare for YVR-YUL-LHR outbound and nonstop inbound, but begged off because it'd probably still end up being more expensive, what with driving/flying to Vancouver and what not. I'd do it (because I love Vancouver and YVR is a kicka$$ airport), but I'd plug my ears when actually boarding the plane (can't stand the boarding music, but at least they're Star Alliance!  )

EDIT Whoop, never mind. It balloons to just under $800 with taxes and fees. Shoulda figured.

At 1800cheapseats.com has Continental at $711 to LGW with one stop through either EWR or IAH.

It doesn't look like anything is available under $700. Try a ticket consolidator like www.kayak.com to get a good idea of the lowest fares without having to go to 20 different websites.

You could always take Amtrak up to Vancouver, then take a taxi to YVR. I've been told by many up here that Amtrak is the way to go to get to Vancouver. It's easy and only a few minutes in Blaine.
