What's the most under-rated airline around?
Thanks to all in advance!

Definitely Northwest. I think they are a wonderful airline.

(First of all, no, I don't work for NW)--

I also think that NW is the most underrated out there. Did anyone see the last DOT report? NW was number one in on time arrivals, number one in least number of uncompensated bumpings, and in the upper half in least lost luggage and fewest consumer complaints. NW has made tremendous strides from the low point of the New Years incident at Detroit/Metro Airport. They get so much crap still because of that and the strike, and it is all undeserved. NW is a great airline!

TWA deserves a lot more credit than they get. I would fly TWA anytime and anyplace.

Gundu, Bh346, NWAMan, I'd like to say thank you. I'm glad someone finally noticed how good of a job Northwest does for its customers. This has to be the first set of posting that I've seen where no-one is complaining about Northwest.

Once again, Thank You.

As an airliner nut, I have the tendency to reminice. I flew on an Air Florida DC-10 charter flight, JFK-LGW. In the eyes of the public this trip would have had three strikes against it:
1. It was a charter flight
2. It was on board a DC-10 (the 1979 AA Chicago tragedy was still fresh in people's minds)
3. It was on Air Florida (which had recently suffered a disasterous crash in Washington, DC)

My experience was as follows:
1. The charter flight left and arrived on time - both directions. The plane was clean and had full on-board entertainment. The cabin service was what I would imagine in business class, with the flight attendants serving cold and hot drinks and providing hot towels thoughout the flight and two full-course meals with complimentary wine. Everyone was super fiendely.
2. The aircraft was solid, stable, and well maintained. I had complete confidence in the aircraft.
3. Both flights were exceptionally smooth. An indication of how professional the pilots were was when the captain got on the PA system to apologize for having to make an evasive maneuver to avoid another plane that had encroached our airspace. I never felt a thing. As promised, the pilot got us to our destination on time, despite the detour.

Aeroflot, for one. So many people on this forum and out there in the world are unwilling to believe Aeroflot has gotten better, and that it really isn't all that unsafe.

I agree with other members about NWA. I've never had a bad experience, and don't understand where all the criticism is coming from.

It is Aeroflot. I think that they have gotten better than people think.

AEROFLOT!!!! I flew them in 1993 SVO-SNN-ORD on an IL-62. i was in business class, and the service was the best i have seen ever! In the USA, i would have to say TWA and NWA.

Aeroflot has improved dramatically in the past 10 years I would definatly fly them along with NWA who desrves alot of thanks for a job well done along with TWA who lived to blow out 75 candles and are going to blow out alot more. TWA along with these airlines deserve more respect and recogintion for the savage scrutiny they were put through mostly by the incompetant aviation bashing media. May they burn in hell

First, I don't know what you are all talking about with NWA...actually...let me contain myself...it was just one experience (I'll post a trip report shortly).

Most under-rated airline:

Alitalia
-Could be because they don't do much marketing outsided of Europe.
-Cabin service is superior as most other areas of the operation

I have to say that Southwest Airlines is quite under-rated. I flew them from HOU to STL back in April. The fair was great, $89 per way. Also, Southwest has things down to a science. The plane arrived at the gate, it was quickly fueled up and made ready for it's next flight. I then boarded, and it seemed like it pulled out of the gate just as I sat down. We were in the air about 20 minutes after I got on the plane.

i have not experienced any of the airlines mentioned but based on my experiences, I think AA is the best airline in the skies is a model airline for all airline's to follow, there new service and new interiors are fantastic and only to think that they will get better is incredible as i am not sure you can get much better! and to think how much the press picks on them for the smallest things is just rediculous.
