Styrian Spirit of Austria has cancelled all flights on the 24th of March.
IMO This sounds like a Grounding = bankruptcy!
Tomorrow at 4pm there will be more information

Check their homepage:

Bad also for their codeshare partners like Swiss, the flew from ZRH to LNZ and KRK.

Good day

This will be really bad news for Maribor, Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Graz

Also its not very good for Bombardier, and in particular the CRJ-700/900 programme

Doesn't look good at ALL. If it were just a strike or weather related, at least you could book or there would be still other content left on the website.
Unfortunately I never had the chance to fly with them (although they were on my to do list), they reminded slightly of UK Duo Airways; flying CRJs with Business Class style and affordable pricing.

It seems the full service stand alone commuters (so not -mainly- a feeder of a big airline) in Europe, like Eastern Airways, VLM, Darwin Air, OLT which are more built around turboprop fleets, do better.

Well airliners world magazine did an article on them a while back, and on past form that's usually the kiss of death so it wouldn't surprise me. Sad news if its true though.

Not surprising at all. They were close to bankruptcy about a year ago, and saved by a new cash injection and a new shareholder (AFAIK, the GRaz public utility company).

I know on there Luton routes they've not been doing all that well, on one turn around i see 3 pax get off and only 2 get back on....sad if they do cease ops!

It's happened, Styrian Spirit is bancrupt. They just informed LX that all code-share flights are cancelled with immediate effect. Passengers will be reprotected.

Pitty!

Terrible news i wanted to test their product this summer while going in Austria. Another crj based regional carrier goes in Europe it's actually too sad. Bad news for ZRH too and I think swiss will have to find a new partner.

I know what you mean Airlittoralguy. I was hoping to take them from ZRH to KRK. I wonder what will happen now. In a way I think LX badly needs the connecting traffic from SZG, KLU and GRZ. But they haven't got any spare regional aircraft right now. And I can't see OS taking up these routes. That would be feeding the competition.

Is there any possibility of Darwin Airline taking up these routes? They are already flying ZRH - LUG on behalf of LX. However, they might currently be short of aircraft to fly to SZG, KLU and GRZ...

SWISS just announced that they will be operating the flights to both GRZ and KRK with their own Embraers until March 31st. Until then they hope to find a permanent solution.

Swiss was getting rid of their small Embraers this spring, isn't that right? Avros seem too big for ZRH-KRK. Maybe becoming a Star Alliance airline Swiss could talk LOT into providing KRK-ZRH feeder ER4 flights the same way LOT does KRK-VIE for OS ?

What a shame. I guess the CRJ701 will quickly be snapped up by another airline, as it is quite new... the CRJ900 must be almost ready to fly by now from the production facility? Perhaps LH will take both airplanes...?

Yes it is right. However, so far no buyers could be found for the aircraft. They're being phased out slowly while the additional RJ's LX is in the process of receiving are delivered.

But to be honest, I shan't believe LX is really getting rid of them until the last one has left the fleet and found a new owner!

LOT seems like the most likely candidate. On the onther hand though. LO and LX both operate ZRH-WAW but even now that LX is about to join STAR, there's still no sign of any cooperation between the two airlines.

A shame. It was a great airline with great service. Just proves that small quality airlines cannot survive.
