Following the recent loss of two A320s, Armavia's management has announced that they will lease three additional A320. Leasing source(s) not given.

Do you have a source of the news? I'm following the news closely and still haven't read anything about 3 A320s.

No bloody wonder, well atleast they will be able to start more operations if they are adding an additional aircraft.

Hope they have chosen a reputable place to receive the aircraft from.

Thanks
Mike

"Armavia va commander trois nouveaux Airbus, après l'accident en Russie
EREVAN, 6 mai 2006 (AFP) -
La compagnie aérienne arménienne Armavia a décidé de prendre en leasing trois nouveaux Airbus, qui remplaceront l'appareil qui s'est écrasé en mer Noire et celui qui a brûlé dans un hangar à Bruxelles, a indiqué samedi le vice-directeur commercial de la compagnie, Andreï Agadjanov."

Since it seems the crash in the Black Sea was not caused by bad maintenance or unskilled pilots (correct me if I'm wrong), and that the fire at BRU has nothing to do with Armavia, other then the fact that they were unlucky enough to have a plane parked inside, I guess people shouldn't worry to much about flying Armavia.

Thanks for that. So it could be any type, meaning it may include A319s as well. They have 1 A319 scheduled for delivery this month, a former Independence air and by replacing the 2 destroyed A320s, makes a total of 3.

So they will be re-establishing the fleet as it was.

Haven't they already taken delivery of that one?

Or will this be either 805BR or 806BR, the only ex-Indy A319s which still appear to be without an airline a this moment?

That's the first one. The second one was scheduled for this month. As far as I had heard, it was supposed to be N805BR but I'm not sure.

I believe all planes are covered by insurance so that shouldn't be a problem. The real challenge is to be able to overcome the bad publicity.

They are a small company. National carrier but encouragingly enough, not state owned but a private company, unlike so many European carriers.

If they survive, it will be an achievement in itself.

Well, they way i see it is that the 2 incidents had nothing to do with Armavia. If it was MX issues with the Black Sea crash then it is not Armavia, because i think they go to places like SN Technik for MX. Therefore not Armavia's fault.

Also, the SN Technik incident was not Armavia's fault either.

Thanks
Mike

Surely, this belongs to the thread about the A350 order by Aeroflot?

The A319 is already on its way and may arrive in Yerevan on Sunday or Monday the latest.

Joe public don't see that though - they see a destroyed Armavia aircraft and assume they are an unsafe airline.

A319-132 c/n 2277 leased to ArmAvia as EK-32011 from CIT (ex-N803BR), named “Mika”, was actually ferried via OSL from MEX on 30 Feb 06.

Hope they change the name. Armavia doesn't sound nice and probably means nothing in Armenian (don't be shocked, I happen to know some Armenian).

Armavia is just the short name for Armenia & Avia. An abbreviation that lots of Airlines in the former USSR use. So whats the problem about it?

A little off topic, but it's better than starting a new one; Does this company have a website? I couldn't find it on google...

Are you sure that's Russian or is it gibberish because we don't have Amenian font on Windows operating system?

The Armenian and English pages of the website have been missing since the accident.

Does anyone have any clue where the A320s are going to come from?
