I have a quick question regarding International airlines flying from JFK to/from European destinations. I don't believe this had been asked before, but if it has I didn't find it.

This summer I need to return to Berlin to do some business. To get an affordable fare over I usually drive to Boston instead of use my local airport PWM where the the price difference can amount to hundreds of dollars for an International itinerary.

Anyway, JetBlue will begin operating four daily flights between JFK and PWM starting May 23rd. I've long awaited a low-fare alternative to JFK from PWM because of the access it will provide to the many additional International flight options offered there. Oftentimes I can find a great fare to Europe from JFK that I can't get out of BOS during the same time period. However, until now I've never had a convenient, cheap or quick way of getting to JFK, and I'm thinking about booking a flight originating from there to Berlin while there are still some good fares available for the end of August.

My question is what are all of the International airlines (both full-service and charters) flying to Europe from JFK that one can book seats on, but won't find listed when using sites such as Travelocity, or Expedia? One example, Royal Jordanian. I'm not sure if they still fly JFK to Amman with the stop in Europe, but I know they use to and it was often much cheaper than the legacy carriers. I think Air India might still fly these types of flights through Europe?

So can anybody on here tell me all the airlines I can book flights on to Europe from JFK that ARE NOT listed on the typical travel booking websites? Doesn't have to be all the way to Berlin, but any of the major gateway cities in Western Europe.

I do not know which airlines are listed and which are not on the web sites you are thinking about but do not overlook Aer Lingus via DUB or Air India via LHR. And I wonder if Aer Lingus BOS-DUB might be better for you. (Here I am assuming with the significant Irish population in Boston that they operate BOS-DUB.)

Try DL. Fares between PWM and BER start at 499.00 + tax R/T.....

Indeed, I've noticed some bargains with Aer Lingus out of Boston in the past. The only problem that I would have with Aer Lingus is getting to Berlin. I know there's Ryan Air, but they aren't convenient because I'd have to go through London and change airports. A lot of times if I fly to AMS, CDG or LON I have cheap, quick one flight connections to Berlin on Air Berlin, Easy Jet, German Wings etc.

Off the top of my head, here are some options:

-Air India to LHR
-Singapore to FRA
-Emirates to HAM (starting later this year, not sure if it's in time for your trip)
-MAXjet to London Stansted (might get lucky with $1000 RT)
-PIA to MAN

Thanks for looking up the fare, but I already know what the majors and the alliances are offering from PWM. That's what I'm comparing prices against. So far I've found an option on LTU all the way to Berlin via DUS for $200 less then DL has to offer

Bah, just get a nice rental car with lots of power and experience the speed limit-less German Autobahn  . Plus, no doubt in my book, EK will be the cheapest option out of those mentioned so far.

Also don't forget Kuwait Airways - JFK/LHR!

Is this really true? I haven't seen any press releases lately announcing this service. When DL announced new services out of JFK I looked to see if PWM was included and it wasn't. This news is interesting if DL is going to start offering a PWM-JFK connection, however, with JetBlue arriving in a couple weeks I don't see how they can possibly compete with the $70-120 O/W fares B6 will be offering on full size A-320 equipment vs. Comair RJ's.
Also, I really doubt the Portland metro area has the demand to support DL flights to JFK. Domestic business travelers are not going to choose the JFK flights over the LGA flights already offered. The only advantage of flying to JFK from PWM is for access to the wide array of International flight options. There may be a small number of people like me living in Portland that would utilize B6 or DL fights to JFK for this reason, but I doubt there is enough daily demand going PWM-JFK to support two separate carriers operating this market concurrently.
I think B6 is going to be huge success here at PWM, and I think it will secede when DL will fail on this route. I think B6 will attract a different type of passenger base, more leisure travelers, vs. business travelers and those making International connections that you'd find on a carrier such as Delta.

in all honesty, I think you'll find that you'll spend more trying to piece together a flight at this point than you would by just flying on one of the carriers that serve the market. You are well behind the prime seats to Europe. There might still be some good fares available to TXL since DL and CO are beating each other up for the market. Even if DL doesn't start JFKPWM service by the time you go, you can still get a through fare by flying into LGA and transferring yourself. Or you can fly through EWR on CO w/o an airport change. Plus BOS does have enough transtlantic service on foreign carriers that fly into TXL. Even though there are discount airlines into Berlin, by the time you piece together the transatlantic, intra-NE, and intraEurope pieces, you'll probably spend more than if you just bought a through fare.

Let me know what you decide but I'd be surprised at this time of the year if you could piece together something cheaper than you could get w/ a single carrier.

Yes, fares right now for the end of August that I'm looking at are $500-700 which is several hundred less than I've had to pay in peak season in the past when I've wanted to go to Europe.

I've wanted to try B6 for quite a while now, and with their new service to JFK I figured it would be fun to give them a try shortly on the way to Berlin. At most it wouldn't cost me anymore then the fares I'll get out of Boston. I'd arrive in JFK about an hour before I'd be able to get to BOS if I was driving or taking the bus/train. And I'd also get to sample B6. Also, I'm not going to book a flight out of PWM on any of the majors when I can most likely get on the same airline in Boston for a couple hundred less.

I know what the fares are right now that everybody keeps quoting for me. I appreciate the help everybody, but it wasn't the info I was looking for. In the past I've often seen these discounted fares listed by airlines like Air India, Kuwait Airways, Royal Jodanian, Aeroflot, etc. for myself. At times they are as much as 40-50% off all the published fares listed by the legacy airlines. However, it can be hard finding these fares because a lot of these airlines don't show up on the sites Like Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia. I came here to try to get a list of all these 'alternative' airline options so that I could then seek fares from them directly.
