Hi everyone,

just flew into ZRH from VIE today, (May, 11th) at 8.20pm with an Fly Niki A320. We got on final to RWY 14. Suddenly we stopped the approach and diverted to the east and north, just to intercept ILS 16. I thought what was that? Could have been an incident on 14 in front of us. As we touched down on 16, I saw the reason. A KLM Fokker 70 was blocking RWY 14. About five firefighter trucks, several police cars and paramedics have been visible. I don't know what happened.

Does somebody else have more information?

Regards,
Patrick

Might have been a serious medical emergency.

Tom.

Doesn't sound like much of an emergency, if they were waving at you guys.  laughing

Patrick,

It was not a Fokker 70, but a Fokker 100 of KLC: PH-OFK arriving into ZRH as KL1963.
Fortunately, the landing was un-eventful: the right-hand mainlanding-gear torquelink was broken !!! Passengers disembarked on the runway and went by bus to the Terminal. The PH-OFK was towed to a remote stand for technical inspection.

More information:

Upon touch down the aircraft started veering off to the left. aircraft was kept on the runway by control inputs. aircraft came to a full stop. fire brigade was requested for inspection. initial inspection revealed hydraulic leak on right-hand main-landing-gear and structural damage to right-hand torque link. passengers were disembarked on runway uneventfull.

Hi!
Thanks for the correction. I saw the a/c just for maybe four seconds on a bad angle to see the F70/100 difference.

I'm really glad nobody go hurt!

Thanks for all the information.

Have a nice weekend!

Regards,
Patrick
