Just heard from the inside the -300ERs will start being delivered in February 2008, one more in March, and the rest in 2009. Registrations will be BQR-V.

No they ordered 4, they were converted 772ER orders that were converted last month.

Damn, that's a long wait. I hope they will fly to PBM. Can't wait to try them out. Any word what routes they will be used on?

Any news when they will start phasing out the 733's and 734's? Van Wijk said (a couple of months ago) that would start soon, but I haven't heard anything since.

I also can't wait to try them out but in another thread I read these 773ER's are for expansion and not replacement of KL's 744 passenger aircraft so it might take even longer before the Dutch Antilles (and Surinam) will see these aircraft. I can imagine KL will start using these aircraft on prime routes where competition is fierce before sending them to leisure destination and VFR destinations where KL already has the monopoly.

About KL's 733/734 phase out, I wonder which airlines might pick them up. I would think these aircraft might be good candidates for Dutch Antilles Express in a few years when they might expand.

I am afraid you're right, but a guy can hope right? Wink
Anyway, if the rumour (or fact??) that they will start flying the MD11 to PBM due to MP and Arkefly entering the market, I will be happy too, never flown the MD11, and the 747 more times than I care to count... (742, 743 and 744... all KLM)

I just spoke to a KLM 763 captain and he said that the 763s will leave the fleet much sooner. KLM had planned to keep the last five 763s until March 2007 but we shouldn't be surprised if this might all be happening before the end of the year.
Eventually, the last routes flown by the 767 (Abuja/Kano, Entebbe, Dammam/Doha, Tehran, Almaty and some Washington-Dulles rotations) will be replaced by the 332 sooner.

I do think they'r using the remaning (ordered) A330s to replace these 767s. So when we're talking about 'growth' I think that's in number of seats, not necessarily in routes or frequencies.
I guess KLM wants to wait and see how the 773 will eventually perform.

Might be similar to **J regs. They don't use those because they are used for commercial items like models etc. Just checked the database and there no 744 BFQ or 73NG BXQ either...

That would mean the KL B772ER fleet will eventually consist of 15 frames then, i.e. the current 13 plus BQO and BQP. Also, there is also only 4 B77W on order and R-V would include 5 frames.

I am aware of the plans for accelerated phase out of the 5 remaining B763s. The current draft winter program can be flown with just 3 767 frames, but an update is on the way and all 763s might very well be removed from the schedule by early 2007.

Nevertheless, given the schedule changes and frequency increases I am aware of, I wonder where KLM is going to get all of the equipment. The 5 remaining B763s are being replaced with 4 additional A332s and the apparently remaining 2 B772s by April 2007. That leaves, however, very little room for frequency reinforcement, network adjustments and route development which KLM is actively contemplating, even with the transfer of the EWR route to NW.

The A330 should be doing EWR-AMS-EWR by the end of October, but from what I read, this was supposed to be a -200.

Changes, frequencies and expansion... Oh well. From what I've seen, there won't be that much expansion for the winter season 2006/2007. However, in my department (Cabin Crew) KLM will be hiring extra FAs to boost expansion plans for the summer 2007 schedule.

Indeed, they will most certainly not be fired.

The routes may be the routes now operated by the 744 full-pax, or routes where the 772 is proving too small. Not sure which ones those are though. I'm certainly hoping they will fly to the caribbean destinations for which KLM now uses the 744 (CUR, PBM and SXM).

IMHO more 77W's are a certainty. I wouldn't be surprised if the fleet would grow to at least ten. These first are more for expansion, and some more will probably replace the 744 full pax (KLM has 5 of those in the fleet).

I think that the 748i has as much chance being ordered as the a380, which is none. But hey, you never know. KLM has a very long relationship with the 747, so it would be very sad if some day the fleet would not have any 747's anymore.
The 739ER's are IMHO a possibility, although the regular 739's are serving just fine.

PH-BQO and PH-BQP ; will be 200ERs, lsd from ILFC, delivered jan/april 07
BQR, BQS, BQT, -300ERs, (3) already in official order books, delivered from feb 08
BQU and BQV; 300ERs, order not yet in official order books but to be confirmed soon.
Please shoot or comment if this is not correct.

I've seen quite some projects which are on the verge of being launched, but there's no exact dates so far. Even if most of these expansion plans are postponed until the summer 2007, I still do not see how all the expansion plans could come materialize.

Here is what is possible compared to the current summer program:

-nett addition of one airframe, with the additions of 6 frames (4 A332, 2 B772) and the retirement of 5 B763 ;
-the continued operation of the AMS EWR route by NW could free up another frame ;
-increased utilization of the fleet after the MD11 and B744/74E retrofit has been completed: the current summer program is designed to be comfortably operated by 9 (out of 10) MD11 frames and 20 (out of 22) B744/74E ;

Still, these 3 measures would not cover for some of the ambitious growth plans I have read.

Some FO are going to the 744 as FO. Some Captains also to the 744 as Captain. Some to 777, some to A330. Really just depends on seniority. Under the old system, 767 and 737 FO were in the same function group, so some very junior 767 FO may become 737 FO. Some may become 737 Captain....anything is possible, as long as you have the seniority to hold it!
There is no general 767-A330 rule.

You're right, KLMyank!

No general rule for former 767 pilots. My FO is headed for the 777 (FO) and the captain is off to the 744 (captain).

Cabin Crew is a different thing (since we get to fly 3 types) and most of those flying 767 will 'trade' that for either MD11, 777 and A330.

That's correct. 3 B777-200ER ordered last year were converted to -300ER last April. The 4th (and now possibly 5th) reported order has not yet appeared on the Boeing website; they may be leased aircraft, although there is no official ILFC announcement; it might even be possible that they will arrive in 2007 already. Interestingly, as explained here http://www.airliners.net/discussions..._aviation/read.main/2818368/6/#104 ILFC still has two 300ERs on order that have yet to be publically commited to...

the PH-**Q reg is used for the simulator, while the PH-**J reg is used for models.
