Well, yet another wasted half day thanks to Flybe!   

I'm here at Jersey Airport, waiting for the new Embraer 195 which was due to come into the airport to give people here a look at it and to test ground equipment compatibility; it got down to 2,000 and was then heard climbing to 160, heading back to Exeter due to a "minor hydraulics problem".

Worse still, there's a 146 gone tech here (a Flybe 146 gone tech? Surely not!)

Disappointing; hopefully, it will be back soon.

     

lol I'll try and find my look of surprise   . Embraer apparently still has a lot to iron out with their E-jets. You'll get to see it, no worries.

Was working at the Southampton Boat Show today and saw the 195 on approach - what a hot lookin, bird!

I got a look round it at Exeter before I flew out here to SYD last week. It looked really nice, but looks aren't everything.

It's arrival at EXT was delayed due to "technical problems". This could mean anything, it is a new aircraft after all. It takes a while to iron out all the "cracks" but it'll come good. Mind you, this is Flymaybe we're talking about....

As far as I know, no date has been set yet for the first scheduled flight, I believe the target was end of October, but that was a few months ago. There's still route-proving (which is what they're doing at the moment) and other things to do before that can happen.

It seems the 195 was going to Jersey to show off to the company bosses when a hydraulic fuse coupling sheared causing lots of system losses and flashing lights and things, so they decided to turn back to EXT and manually lower the undercarriage. They lost the ability to steer for a while and the aircraft was stranded on the runway for a brief period of time before the steering came back. This was a few days ago and after a fuse and pump cx it has flown again since.

It is currently at Exeter.

I was born and raised for 18+ years 1 hour due N of EXT.

I haven't flown from EXT for several years.

Does anyone know whether the small outdoor viewing area, accessible from within the terminal, still exists? I ask because I will be flying EXT-GCI-JER on 2nd November and would like to watch the movements, if there are any, for a few hours before.

Yes, it most definately does! Up the stairs into te cafe, past the picture of Concorde G-BOAD and out the door. You only get to see the Western end of the runway though, so climbout from 26 or approach to 08 is what you will see.

At least, it was there 2 weeks ago just before I left, anyway!!!!

How many do Flybe have coming. I like Flybe a lot lol
