In a forum about BWIA being closed, someone refers a youtube video containing the airline's song!

Do any other airlines have their own songs?

EUjet used to have one ("Just hop on an EUjet.com if you want to get away...")

Lufthansa has just released it's new corporate song "Symphony of Angels". All employees must listen to it while at work (new directive from the CEO). The song will be repeated continously on all aircraft while inflight.  Wink

Who remembers the British Caledonian song back in 1983 set to the tune of The Beach Boys' "California Girls' ?

I've flown with U.S. Airlines
And the girls are really nice!
And those beautiful Far Eastern girls
Do splendid things with rice!
German girls are so correct
And the planes are never late!
But there's only one girl we want to see
When we reach the departure gate .......
I wish they all could be Caledonian
I wish they all could be Caledonian
I wish they all could be Caledonian gir-r-ls!

British Caledonian — we never forget you have a choice!

The other day on BBC Radio 2 they played The Flower Duet from Delibes' opera Lackme. It was introduced by the programme compare as 'British Airway's tune'.

It was used in that advert where a large number of people in a desert formed patterns - like a big pair of smiling red lips - and finished when they formed an image of the earth from space. It was all shot from the air.

Now that commercial must have been screened around 15 years ago. So as it is still being described today as 'BA's tune' I guess it must rank - along with the use of Air on a G String for the Hamlet cigar TV adverts - as one of the most memorable advertising tunes to appear on British TV.

Higher, much higher,

I really like LH's new Symphony of AngelsBig grin IIRC, I believe they used a piano rendition of Up Where We Belong for quite a bit. That tune definitely does bring back memories...

AFAIK, there were at least 3 songs that PR used. There was Love At 30,000 Feet by Filipino singer Jose Mari Chan, Shining Through which was used in the 80s, and Asia's Sunniest from the 90s. Love At 30,000 Feet and Asia's Sunniest can still be heard during boarding and deplaning and until recently Asia's Sunniest, was used in PR's reservation line (haven't checked in quite a while though but I believe they removed it).

Shining Through went something like (going from one of their 80s ads)...

Warm as the sun in our skies
Real as the smiles that welcome you
At last its true
The beauty of the Philippines is shining through
Philippine Airlines shining through

DL also has the soundtrack oftheir European Sanctuary commercials avaliable for download in Delta-Sanctuary.com (Surely beats when they had the Good Goes Around song in iTunes. )

I'm glad I saw this thread.... I have a small (rather silly) request.... I need the help about Continental's older song... well, it's not really a song, is more the tune that goes with the safety video demonstration... You see, in the Bethune CEO era, CO would have this tune that went along their safety video demonstration, and I would LOVE it... I don't know why, but everytime I would be in my seat, waiting for the F/As to finish cabin preparation in order to depart, I would feel very happy to hear to finally hear the song.... Since I flew so much with CO during those years (still do), when the new video with Larry Keller appeared, they changed the tune too.... I tell you, I was very disappointed by the change, I actually was like OH NO, them ruined the demonstration video!!!

To this day I still don't know why did they change the tune, when it was just perfect for what it was.... Anyways, does someone know why they change the tune and if there's a way I could find the old tune somewhere?

Thanks for helping me in this silly request...

OMG, this one gets the cheesiness price of the year hands on! Anyone for a translation?

I will try to translate the Air Berlin song for you, although it seems to be a little difficult. The Expression "Flugzeuge im Bauch" means "aircraft in one's stomach" similar to "butterflies in one's stomach". I have heard that this expression is used in English in positive as well as in negative way, while in german it describes a positive feeling of being nervous. I hope that the translation is not as horrible as the song. If anyone has a better suggestion, just feel free to post it

Aircraft in one's stomach, kerosene in the blood
no storm can stop it, our Air Berlin
The nose in the wind, the costumer in our mind
and always with a smile
----- Air Berlin

Welcome on board, we are there for you
Just lean back and relax
we fly "Full service" for low fares
and keep an eye on your wishes

Specialised on shopping and business
we will fly you there on time
We are first choice for vacations
because your holidays begin on board

Aircraft in one's stomach,...
Aircraft in one's stomach,...
----- Air Berlin

Mallorca is a destination and a bridge at the same time
if you are heading for the south
The hub in Palma makes travelling easy
because it turns around for the costumer

Aircraft in one's stomach,...

Our philosophy is to be fast and on time
We always take off well, but we are never aloof

Wether it is London, Zurich, Amsterdam or Vienna
our euro-shuttle will do it for you
The city-highlights, we will bring you there
Europe is closer than you think.

Aircraft in one's stomach,...
Aircraft in one's stomach,...
----- Air Berlin

----- Air Berlin

unser Euro-Shuttle macht's klar
Die City-Highlights, wir bringen sie hin
Europa zum Greifen nah

Flugzeuge im Bauch,....
Flugzeuge im Bauch,...
----- Air Berlin

What? You are having a discussion on airline songs and nobody mentioned AEROFLOT??? If anybody has ever spent any significnant time in the company of Russians (especially of older age), s/he would know that on festive occasions, in a big party there are at least 5-10 people that will feel necessary to contribute their own original (however bad) poetry to mark the celebration. The most enthusiastic ones will contribute whole songs. This extends to the corporate sphere quite naturally.

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you not one, but SIX songs about Aeroflot. Enjoy. Don't thank me, thank the composers, lyricsts and performers who are all listed...

http://www.aeroflot.ru/company.asp?ob_no=18514

The very first one is called "The Aeroflot Anthem," so I guess this is the official one. "And the man is happy in every corner of the Earth, because he chose Aeroflot." The patriotic songs all bring back the good old days of the 70's... the polyphonic sound slowly rising to a cresendo... my favourite is "Wings of Motherland," song #6.

Suprised no one has mentioned AA's old theme song: "Something Special In the Air" (CA. Late 1980's/early 1990's) or even WN's theme song "Fly Southwest Airlines/Just Say When!"

I'm still a huge fan of United using "Rhapsody in Blue". I always remember hearing it in the United TV ads when I was young so that song and United have always been synonymous to me. I was disappointed a few years ago when United phased out the song, but was very happy when they brought it back recently. In fact I'm flying on United later today and will have that song stuck in my head.

Come Fly the Friendly Skies!

It's Time to Fly!

In 1977 when Southwest did their 5 city expansion (from DAL/HOU/SAT/HRL to DAL/HOU/SAT/HRL/CRP/LBB/MAF/ELP/AUS) they had a tv ad where they used a song called "Spreading Love All Over Texas" which was difficult to block out of your mind, even if you were trying really hard.

View the ad here, it may take a few mins to download/stream.

OH MY GOD!! - DUDE, I love you!!! Since being furloughed and watching our company dissappear, I have been singing the "Get On Board" theme in my head, sullenly feeling/fearing that it was lost forever. THANK YOU; I love it!!

It was always an inside joke at our AMWest station, because everyone would have this music in their heads after being placed on hold from the help desk for 20+minutes...we'd be out on the ramp humming it out loud...

Truly, thank you again!!

Continental used to have a good one in the 1970's

We're here to make you happy
We're out to make you pleased
You're flying Continental
Your flight will be a breeze
We'll help to make you happy
We'll skip to prove it's true
On Continental Airlines
We move our tails for you

(Chorus)

We really move our tails for you
We make your every wish come true
On Continental Airlines
We really move our tails for you.

Here's a link to a wav file

but it's only the last two lines of the chorus.

(Great. Now I have it in my head. grrrr!!!!)

I beg to differ. Too many people infuse their dislike of Celine Dion into their evaluation of the commercial. Watch the commercial (not the music video). The lyrics are perfect for an airline commercial (as it was written for AC by their ad agency). And Ms. Dion doesn't even use her vocal "quirks" when singing it! How many songs created as airline jingles reach the pop charts? This campaign was dropped too soon by AC. Enjoy:
