O Globo is reporting that a Piper Cherokee has crashed in the northern state of Maranhão, killing all 3 occupants (one pilot and 2 pax). One of the wings detached from the aircraft, which entered an unrecoverable spin and crashed about 70km from São Luís, the state's capital.

Aircraft just falling apart and crashing!? This is kinda creepy...

Now they're reporting that the aircraft exploded just 100m off the runway at their destination, and no details about what caused the explosion are known.
