| Topic: Is 30 Minutes Enough Connect Time At ATL? Username: Quickmover Posted 2006-10-12 15:14:01 and read 2220 times. I'm flying into ATL at 7:08 on FL and departing at 7:38 on DL. Is 30 minutes enough time to change concourses and airlines? |

I'm just hoping that taking the first flight of the day out of CLT, there won't be any delays. Could I check in for my Delta flight in CLT even though I'm not flying them until I get to ATL? |

This has been discussed several times before, but the short answer is: it should be. I am assuming your not checking any luggage because obviously that would not be enough time and that you will have checked in for your DL flight online. If those two things are true and you are on-time into ATL you should be fine. |

Assuming both aircraft are on time, you will see your departing aircraft normally closed out 5 to 10 minutes before departure. And you know that it can normally take 10 minutes to actually get off the aircraft after your arrival. C concourse to A/B. 30 minutes is tight. Good luck. |

I think I set a record about 4 weeks ago. I was doing a nonrev day trip just for the heck of it (MCO-ATL-SRQ-ATL-MCO). On the SRQ-ATL run, we were delayed about an hour. I was suppose to have a 2 hour layover in ATL. Once we landed, (on runway 10), it took 30 min to get to the gate, now making us 1 hour, 30 min late. Once we parked, being in row 30 on a MD88, it took about 5 min to get off the plane. Finally, I got off in Concourse A and made a sprint to the monorail. Got to the bottom of the escalator, no monorail for 2 minutes. I didn't wanna waste time so I jumped on the moving escalator between concourses and sprinted down those all the way from A to D. Finally when I got to D, I had caught up with the next monorail ahead and since the doors were opened, I jumped on it to relieve myself and catch a breath for a moment. We road the distance to E, jumped off, ran up the escalators into E, went to my assigned gate for my MCO flight, just to find out it had been moved. I then had to run to the opposite side of E. About 3 gates away, I ran out of energy, I could run no more. Then I heard the final boarding call for MCO. I felt like I could die by this time (considering the luggage I was carrying around my neck too) but I mustered up enough energy to run (or jog) 3 more gates just in time to be the last one on. If I didn't make that flight, I would've been spending the night in ATL as all the other MCO flights of the night were overboooked. But I made it.... timed out to be: 14 minutes from plane in A33 to plane in E2. Hope to never relive that again |

It is do-able and most early morning flights should get in pretty much closed to on time and/or even early. However, you need to keep your options opened, and be prepared to wait list for flights for the rest of the day (or buy a more flexible ticket that allows you to change flights easily). |
