Hey Guys,

I just found out NM has a flght coming in at 5:30pm to SJO from MEX and leaving to TLC at 7pm local time. I guess this is to move the stranded passengers at TLC to a flight which leaves for MAD from SJO, which is 812.

Anyone please let me know what a/c this is, I might just escape before the sun sets.

Cheers!
Tomas.

Ok I found out,

It is a Boeing 737-200 of Republicair, he is flying with the callsign "Republica 201" or RBC201.

If he parks at a gate, I'm going to go and snap a shot or two, what a nice surprise!

Cheers!

Effectively NM had two flights today [10/31], one to Toluca a B737 and a second one to PTY and MAD. Both left SJO with a different departure time of 30 minutes. Sounds crazy...

I checked Alterra web page, and show nothing about these flights.

Yes Alterra's site had both 812 and 700/701. I saw both depart and very closely, actually 812 to PTY departed before 701 left, so I am doubting the chance that pax actually we re-routed to SJO from TLC.

A friend who was waiting for his LR flight to PTY at the gate called me and told me that people were actually boarding to the flight back to Toluca, and it was parked on a gate. He said it was attended by Air Madrid people.

Now what is strange is that they flew as RBC201 MEX-SJO and RBC200 SJO-TLC, not as DRD700/701 which was the logical reason.

I will wait for my friend at NM to confirm me what this was all about, I would certainly love to see her at daylight if she comes back.

I hope your niece is doing fine on her way to MAD!

Cheers!
Tomas.

A friend of my brother was supposed to fly MAD-TLC on NM today, but the flight was cancelled. Some passengers were transfered to the MAD-CUN flight(UX flight) but she was one of the last passengers to get to the counter so she got to stay in MAD at NM's expense. Additionally, other stranded passengers from saturday flight were sent to SJO on the Monday flight which departed on Tuesday. Apparently, the A340 is grounded due to problems with the engines...

By the way, there is a flight IB7937 MAD-CUN (Operated by Iberworld for Iberia) operating on tuesday's. Does anyone know since when IB has Iberworld A330 operating for them??

Aha! That clears things up!

The 732 that came in today from MEX on the MEX-SJO leg was empty and then what it did was load up passengers which could not make it on the MAD-TLC flight and then fly SJO-TLC to get them to Mexico.

The whole time I thought that PAX AT TLC with destination to MAD were being sent through SJO tonight, but it was all the other way around.

I hope that your friend is able to come to TLC directly, and if not, via SJO this Thursday if the flight comes on time, lets hope so.

If you mind Rojo, please keep us updated on her status, because there could be a strong chance she and the rest of the pax at MAD could be routed again via this method, so I will be heads up for any strange a/c coming in, I missed this one tonight.

Cheers!
Tomas.

It's just a codeshare, Iberworld is not operating any flight for IB at this moment.

Recent problems for the Air Madrid low cost carrier are not getting any better with the travellers on flight 8075 from Madrid to Mallorca, which should have taken two hours, finally taking 21 hours and the travellers having to sleep on the plane.

The plane made it’s planed stop-over on Menorca and then headed towards Palma last Saturday night, but mist at the airport meant it could not land and so it was diverted to Valencia.

The fact that Air Madrid does not use Valencia airport, and that all the hotels in the city were full because of the motorbike GP meeting, meant that the company decided to keep the travellers overnight on the plane.

El Pais newspaper reports that when smokers protested that they could not last out, they were given permission to smoke, which in turn upset the non-smokers. Passengers told the press of a lack of food and shortage of water.

Finally the next morning the flight set off, but this time back to Madrid to refuel. The flight finally arrived in Mallorca 21 hours after first setting off.

And if that was not bad enough, spare a thought for Fernanda Mariñelarena. She had flown originally from Chile, also with Air Madrid, and it took her just under three days to arrive on Mallorca. "

"

Israel has signed a €350,000 marketing agreement with Spanish airline Air Madrid to boost tourism from the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America. The announcement follows a meeting between 21 Spanish mayors visiting Israel and Tourism Minister Isaac Herzog. The money, to be invested by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and Air Madrid, will be used for promotional literature and tourist trade events. The agreement, signed in September, is in effect until the end of the year and can be extended into 2007.

His ministry's decision to open a new Israel Government Tourist Office in Brazil several months ago, as well as the latest agreement with Air Madrid, are designed to further promote the country as a pilgrimage destination to South American and Spanish Catholics, says Israeli Tourism Minister Isaac Herzog.

Tourism cooperation, including the creation of Jewish, Christian and Muslim heritage itineraries between the two countries, was also discussed in the meeting between a delegation of 21 Spanish mayors and the minister.

70,000 tourists from Spanish and Portuguese-speaking nations visited Israel in the first eight months of 2006. In 2005, 95,000 Latin Americans and 52,000 Spaniards traveled to Israel. "

Right! RepublicAir is based @ MEX and the flew ferry and then it took pax from MAD to TLC via SJO. In fact, Air Madrid wanted to base a pair of B737-200s to feed its TLC-MAD leg, perhaps RepublicAir and NM are working together!

Really? In what whay "base" them between TLC-MAD? You mean between MEX-TLC or between TLC-SJO?

Cheers!
Tomas.
