According to Airlinernews.com LTU will be starting a once weekly YEG-DUS route utilizing a A330. Interesting news coming from YEG as of late. Hopefully the airport will start expansion soon . . .

Nice one, really! I guess that it is supposed to be a "ski-charter" flight for rich Germans from the Rhine-Ruhr Area who are sick and tired of the usual ski resorts in Europe.

Maybe for the RV tourists. Visiting Canada by caravan is quite popular among Germans.

Next time you spend all your hard-inherited money for the cargo bill, try to rent an RV at your destination for a change.  Wink

Hopefully it does well and can make it, as LTU's YYC-DUS service only lasted one or two summers as they did not return this past summer (2006).

I would think it would do well, especially since YEG doesn't have nearly as many charters to Europe as YYC, and is really developing as a gateway for Jasper and now a days the Northern reaches of Alberta.

This is good news. A couple of questions though:

1) Will this replace, or be in additon to, the Transat service to FRA which has run the last few years?
2) It was earlier rumored on this forum that we should anticipate an announcement of scheduled service from YEG to Germany/FRA. Was this it? If so, then I'd have to say it's a bit of a disappointment.

As I always suggest, hopefully Edmontonians will make full use of this flight, and will avoid making connections elsewhere.

This is not it,EAA was a little surprised to here LT had added YEG.Apparently a few German tour operators have decided to use LT for a new program to YEG for the summer of 07.It will be catered to the german ''eco'' tourists and Jasper is in the tours aswell.TS will still offer its YEG-FRA flights and LT will run YEG-DUS.
